Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Dutchtown High School of Henry county at times has teachers who don't have their heart in what they do. Sometimes you may sit in a class and learn absolutely nothing because the teacher finds if necessary to talk on the phone with her best friend. You often times find yourself teaching yourself. The AP teachers never assist you in a time of need. The student body as a whole is great. Although the teachers may not be so great your fellow peers will always be there when you need them and that is what I love about this school. You can call on your classmate to assist you when your teacher doesn't find the need to.

I loved Dutchtown High School. My son attended and he is now in the Air Force and doing well and both my neice and daughter attended and they graduated in May and are both headed to great Universities. Ms. Noble does a great job with adding diversity to the school and I feel that this community should be grateful for having such a great administrator and caring teachers in place. Kudos to the teachers and to the staff.

As a freshman, Dutchtown has a great education system. I think what needs to be looked at more is the administration and the math department. I am currently in Adv. math 1 and i have never seen such ridiculous teaching before. This new math thign they have going on is really absurd and I,personally, hope it goes back to subjects such as Algebra, trigonometry etc.We are learning unessacary information. Please study how other countries do their education and see how they are excelling. But as a school, it could be something i look forward to everyday. It is very boring as a whole. I'm in the band program but all I can tell you is to tutor yourself in math. The english department is good, however.

DHS Swept the Henry County Science Fair This Year!! ALL of the students sent to International and most of the ones who went to State came from DHS. It was such a win that they asked the science teachers to stand up and take a bow from DHS. (and the football team is not bad as well!)

Sending my children to Dutchtown High School is the worst mistake I have ever made. This school really needs to get rid of ineffective teachers. I placed one star by parent involvement, because I do not believe the school wants parents to know the level of incompetence that is going on there. If parents start sharing information, the administrators and teachers would be held accountable. Bring in new, innovative, and competent teachers. This is a great community of parents, but this school has been going in the wrong direction the last few years. We also need to hold our administrators accountable for where they have been lacking in leadership and as role models. I cannot help but note that there is one administrator there who is angry all the time. Her interpersonal skills are horrible! She hollers at the children, she is even loud with parents. When I hear her I think, "My God, no one should be that angry so early in the morning." I feel as if some of those poor children are paying for whatever is going wrong or went wrong in her life. Parents, wake up! Pray for a massive change in accountability for Dutchtown, and most of all, pray for our children.

Yet another terrible GA school, check the scorecard on their website. SAT, CRCT and graduation rates are pitiful. If you want your kids to have a decent education in Georgia you better pay for private school.

DHS is an excellent school. The facilities are great. The faculty is great and cares a lot about the students. There is a lot of parent involvement. Our son has been at DHS for six months now and is doing great. The AFJROTC is his favorite but he is also in band and soccer. The soccer program is above average and the coaches are willing to work with players of all skill levels. Overall the school is very nice and our son is really enjoying it. Highly recomended!

Dutchtown High School is terrible... The kids are brow beaten every day and targeted by administration. They are talked to as if they are in a prison system instead of a school. Administration is suppose to be there to lift kids up to encourage them and to help them to succede in life. Sure there should be dicipline ... but there is a line that should be drawn. shutting the door in kids faces and giving them detention for being late... there is zero tolerance for this at dhs. it is rude and uncalled for. No communication with parents. take my word for it... it is awful. last year a math teacher was fired and the kids were lost in that class aparently he was just giving them grades for completion. what a joke.

I will say that the school has its problems. The reputation of the school often seems to come before the students for some people. I can also say that it does have dedicated teachers who for the most part really care about the well being of their students our as I like to say my kids. As a teacher I know that I am learning each day just as my students are and that each day I strive to be a little better than I was the previous day. I hope that if my students learn nothing else form me that they will have realized that the world is what you make it and if you give 100% each day you will never have anything to feel sorry about because you that you have done your best. I will continue to live by these words and watch over my kids.

My child is a freshman. What a mistake i made by sending her to dutchtown. She will not be there after this school year. The teachers are horrible. I'm so angry i can't even put it into words right now but i will by the end of the school year.

My child has only been in this school 2 1/2 weeks and has been targeted by the admin and in particular a teacher. I'm not saying he is an angel but he not a trouble maker or even disrespectful. It is really sad that these kids almost have no rights in this school. I also don't like the fact that when there is an issue or problem to school does not contact the parent. This was adv to me by the assit. prin. I am just really disappointed in this school all together. It maybe a good school but the staff isn't

All of these negative comments about Dutchtown are preposterous. I am currently a senior there and Dutchtown Is a great school! I am very thankful to attend a school as nice as it is. They have excellent teachers who really try there best to work with you and help you. Some of them Genuinely care about you, Such as Mrs Rackstraw and Mrs Tinsley. I will admit that it is not perfect and 'no' school is but Dutchtown is by-far one of the best schools that you can attend. I see the principles all the time. I actually talk to them often in the the halls. Mrs nobles is very nice and respectful. She is often times very busy, working hard to make our school a better place and a positive learning environment for the students.

This is by far one of the worst schools in the County. The staff, lead by the principal is not focus on development and future of there students. This is my child s Senior year and if I could do it all over again I would send him to another school.

I am a student that goes to Dutchtown, and the least that i can say is my friends. Some are backstabbers and some are the best. And the teachers their are okay some are well qualified and the assistant principales are always in the hall but only in the main areas, and never where they need to be. I always hear people cusing and then some people talking about things that they should not be talking about! The main thing I wish the principals would do more is supervise the class more. Not only for the teachers but mainly for (those) students. Its discusting!!! The teachers should be more aware what they (have).

I don't understand all the crying going on about this school from either students or parents. Dutchtown is not a bad school. It is what you make of it though. If you are involved with the school sports, activities, etc, do your work in class, do your homework, study for your test, and obey your teachers and other authorities, theres no reason why you should not have a good experience at your school. You go to school to learn. It is a necessity to have a good education in the world today. As for parent participation, I have seen parents take an active role there with the students. Not all parents who work, can show up for everything, not everyone gets to stay home all day...most people work for a living. I personally think people need to lay off Dutchtown. There are worse schools that you could go to!

Dutchtown is all right. I mean it's not great, but it's not too bad either. The new dress code implemented this year is ridiculous. Plus, I feel that Dutchtown loads us down with too much homework. As an AP student, I would know. However, the diversity is awesome, and the International Festival held last year was great!

The Discipline at Dutchtown High is inconsistent to say the least. If your child has ever been in trouble he/she will be targeted to get rid of .The principle leadership is terrible from the head principle down. Kid are harrassed and picked on and spoken to any kind of way.

I can't stand this school. It's not a real high school. If you want your child to have the real high school experience..then let them go to another school. I'm an A B student and I have no fun here. I do my work and get good grades. Have good behavior, but sometimes you want to unwind and I can't that here. There is no individual freedom.

As a graduate of the class of 2008, I can honestly say that I had a good experience at Dutchtown High School. With a few rare exceptions, every teacher I encountered in my high school career was well qualified for the job. The most defining experience I had was working with the theatre department during my junior and senior years; the current drama teacher is outstanding and I am so excited to see the shows she turns out this year. Though the administration is a little sketchy, there are far worse places in the state to pursue a high school career.

Looking at all the reviews parents make, it's time to hear something from the inside. The teachers and DHS are amazing, for the most part. I've learned a lot from most of my teachers. I have the occasional teacher who cares more about their sports teams than their students, but overall the staff is great. The principal is indeed terrible. I have to admit the assistant principals, Mr. Stenson and Dr. Ross, do work to enforce the rules and without them the school would just crumble down to the ground.

The Admin is a joke. Ms. Nobles likes to hear herself talk, but is not getting results. The kids are out of control and the teachers do not get any support from the Admin. There are many good kids and teachers there, but they are being over-run by the gangs and other out of control kids. We have tried to be proactive and be a positive influence, but the stakes are too high and we are looking to move out of the county further south.

I am extremely pleased with the education my daughter is receiving at Dutchtown HS. She is in AP and honors classes and all her teachers are extremely well qualified and attentive. Dutchtown did very well at the 2008 County Science Fair with 8 students moving on to the State competition, more than any other Henry County school. One Dutchtown student is also moving on to the international competition. The Academic team placed in the top 10 in the recent State Tournament. I also love the fact that the school is so diverse in terms of the students' race, religion, and national origin. This is reflective of the world outside of high school.

Ms. Nobles is rarely seen in the halls. I'm not concerned for my safety at this school. The AFJROTC program is incredible. It's the only real discipline at the school. The Instructors are great. (most of them). I think the school could have potential in the future. I enjoy going to this school rather than Eagle's Landing. Some students say that the school is 'boring'. I disagree. Just because there aren't fights in the halls after every class doesn't mean its 'boring'.

My daughter was a student there for 2 years and the entire system including most of the teachers and the principal was a joke. The principal is almost invisible. The teachers have their hands full with the problem kids. I know that my child has expressed his concern on the quality of learning from DHS. He has asked for help on numerous occasions from his geometry teacher, but the teacher was always too busy trying to get the class under control. Something definitely needs to be done! They need to establish stricter behavioral guidelines, and follow them.

I couldn't agree more with the others. I've been very impressed w/the teachers especially the AP English and AP Chemistry teachers as well as my daughter's counselor. They work w/parents on all levels. I always get straight answers. However, the principal is neither accessible or visible and that is a problem especially when visibility is everything. I've only seen her twice and I am a parent that makes school visits all the time.

Dutchtown High School is by far one of the worst schools in Henry County. The teachers who are good and involved are temporary, and though parent involvement is substantial, nothing gets done. The current principal isn't positively effective. Students don't get reasonable privledges allowed by most High Schools, and appear to be more of the 'rat group' of Dutchtown than anything else.
