LoveJoy High School. I am willing to change my address so that I will not be in this schools' district. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION. These faciliators have DR in front of their names and it makes me wonder... WHY???? and are they above the possitions that they have.? They sure act as though they are
I am a senior International Baccalaureate student at Lovejoy and I've thoroughly enjoyed all four years at this school. I know that there are low ratings because of basically, behavioral problems and the few teachers that do their job for themselves and not the students. Lovejoy is the best school in clayton county, hands down, in regards to academics and behavior. It has challenging academic programs( for those who wish to participate in them), strong leadership, and good teachers. Every school has its downfalls. I know Lovejoy can get a little roudy at times, but the student body always manages to bounce back. I'm proud to be a graduate from THIS school and not any other.
The principal as well as one of the administrators, and a guidance counselor that I've dealt with have the tendency to push responsibilities off onto someone else so they can wipe their hands clean. They are very unprofessional and uncaring of the students all in all. They're too busy with whatever else to try to rectify an issue with one student. They take their time responding to parents, sometimes after repeated calls, notes sent to them I still had to go to the school just to get a small issue taken care of on one occasion. Horrible School Leader Need To Lead!!!
Instructor are involved and keep me informed as to the progress of my student
I'm an 11th grade student in the IB program at Lovejoy, and I have to say I am truly enjoying my experience at LHS. This year we have an excellent principal, Mr. Colbert (and I would know because I had him in middle school) as opposed to our previous principal. As far as safety is concerned, I think students are just fine if they're in the right crowd. Everyone is really kind, and if you're a new student, you'll fit right in on the first day, unlike some other schools that I know. It may not have a whole bunch of money, but we have some quality teachers that can actually teach. I know there are some questionable teachers outside the IB program, but as an IB student, I'm enjoying my time at Lovejoy. I don't know why some people are giving such low ratings, but I love LHS.
I'm currently a student in the IB program at Lovejoy and while I agree it has its fair share of problems, I do believe it is the best choice for a high school in ClayCo. Without this program though, I would loathe this school. There are many disruptive students and unqualified teachers, but I do think the IB program keeps this school afloat.
lovejoy is the best school my kids have ever went to. I give them a 5 out 5 stars
I am currently a sophomore at Lovejoy High School.I personally love this school. We have an amazing sense of family spirit! We care for each other like family members.I know we may not have the best school building(which as of now our building is being renovated) and we may not have the best students, but our students are safe and nobody has been killed.I just finished reading other reviews about this school that have been posted on this website, by parents, and it makes me mad. The parents are only getting the story form their child's point of view. This school is not unsafe because of lack of effort from the teachers ,as a matter of fact, its not unsafe at all,but when the problems arise it is because of the students. At Lovejoy I have met some of the most caring and loving teachers I have ever met!
Lovejoy....it's not the best school in the world, but it's defintely not the worst. I'm an actual student in the International Baccalaureate Programme so a lot of the sutff that happens doesn't affect me as much. Lovejoy's issues come from students, techers, admin., and parents. Each one of those four has an equal responsibilty to what's supposedly wrong with Lovejoy. I actually had a choice to leave Lovejoy for my senior year, I'm a junior right now, but I chose not to. Lovejoy may have its problems, but when you look it so does every school. I want to graduate as a Wildcat. Not as some other crazy mascot with other people that I don't know.
Lovejoy is an okay school. It has the International Baccalaureate Programme, which is a great addition, but if your child is not in this program, the school days may be harder. There have not been many fights this year, but children late and skipping classes has seemed to be an issue. Seems like my peers are not dedicated at all to getting an actual education. The pricipal and his assistants could be more active around the school as well as the security guards. The school could be cleaner. There are alot of 'Coulds', but the point is, its an okay school in a urban-ish area. NO school is perfect and this school is one of the best high schools in Clayton County.
My daughter is a freshman there and I am afraid for her each week because there is a fight almost every week. I'm also afraid for her to walk home as well.
Lovejoy in whole is not a bad school. I have a daughter that has been there the last three year and every year I had to go to the school multiple times because you cannot reach anyone and the admin does not return calls. On top of the gang fights and expensive activities such as prom and joining sports, I would not advise this school for my worse enemy.
The Princpal is non effective. Safety is is at a dangerous all time low. Teacher do as little as possible. If they come to school at all. The only parent inxolement they want is cash.
I have read the comments of past and present students. I have also read the comments of past and present parents. I find it discouraging and disheartening to believe that Lovejoy High School is solely responsible for the academic, social and moral rearing of your children. Lovejoy has a diverse student body that comes from a diverse social-economic background. If you honestly weigh the facts, no school can be all things to everyone. In communities where the ratings are high the school represents a semblance of pride, not a target for parenting shortcomings. I am the father of two children that currently attend LHS and they love it and as parents we couldn t be any more pleased. Remember hard work beats talent when talent doesn t work hard .
I went to this school for four years after attending schools in 4 different states and school districts. I hate to say it, but this was byfar the worst. The main problems are the quality of the curriculum and the discipline. I say the curriculum, and not the teachers, per se because the school board has become too restrictive and has set such strict guidelines that it is nearly impossible for it to cater to the students' specific needs. And then the discipline... I can recall maybe 5-8 courses I have taken at this school where discipline problems with other students did NOT inflict upon the classroom learning experience. This school did not prepare me for college as well as I had expected. Despite the few valuable instructors and faculty members there, I could not even bring myself to go back to visit this school.
Lovejoy needs to get it together. My kids (3) have been in the Lovejoy area all of their lives. They have attended Kemp, Lovejoy Middle, and now Lovejoy High. I have removed both of my sons from Lovejoy High since last year. One I sent to military school because he is joining the service and the other I transferred to another school due to the violence at the school. They have so many fights and gangs, I don't see how those kids concentrate there. The kids are running the school not the adults. Some of the teachers look like the students and it is hard to tell them apart because they are all dressed alike. I have never seen a school so out of control. I am now moving out of Clayton County all together (as of this weekend...yeahhhh) and I hope that they are able to get it back together
All the teachers that my two kids have had in their career at Lovejoy, have been quite caring and we have had no problems so far. I am an involved parent and my kids know what I expect from them academically and socially. They have lived up to that. I am a strong believer that the atmosphere that is set at home goes a long way in helping the teachers and administrators do the best job that they can for our students. Teaching is a tough job and I lift my hat to all the teachers. Great job, keep up the good work and may God continue to help you deal with our youth of today. They are a tough bunch!
I am curently a Junior here in Lovejoy High school. If i had a child i will not take them to lovejoy. The school is horrible, teachers dont care, the students take over, theres a fight almost everyday, and they be running out of lunch sometimes. If i had another choice i would be going to a different school.
I am a senior at this school and to put it bluntly, I don't like this school. The teachers don't care about the students, the counselors are never dependable, and there's a fight in school almost every day. People that don't even go to our school stand in the hallways talking to the students and the administrators don't care. The food they provide is diminutive. They sometimes run out of food at the last lunch period. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.
I just transferred my teenager to Lovejoy at the beginning of Novemeber, however, my experience thus far, has been terrific! Its apparent that the staff members that I have been introduced to do care. My teenager has had an attitude change for the better, more involved in activites, and most importantly her grades are improving with the help of teachers that understand her needs. While all schools do have thier problems, and they are everywhere, you need to look a little closer at the parents, not the school. As you have read very little parent involvement. With 3 teenage girls, I have found that if your not involved, then there is no room for any parent to complain (unfortunately, this is what happens wtih most parents). The move to Lovejoy may have saved my teenager, until proven differently....Go cats!
