Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Honestly I have had a pretty awful time in this school! in the 8th grade now and all I can say is that my parents have given the school money so many times! this year they are asking for a 60 dollar fee from all students. I didn't pay because all they will use the money for is for stuff that will benefit the teachers and not the students. I have had an awful 3 years in this school and I regret even going there. The teachers treat students in a terrible manner. The students are rude, and the school doesn't have resources that help students. There are tons of school that have tablets and computers. I have donated every box top I have seen in my house (and there are a lot) and I am pretty sure the money from the box tops have not been spent yet. Hate may be a strong word but that is the way I feel about this school and my middle school experience. Lets just hope Hapeville High School is better!!!!

I like this school because it is a bit smaller than the school in my district that has students selling drugs out of their lockers. Hapeville is not perfect by any means. I think it is a good school. My son is in his third year and he actually likes it better this year than he did the last two years. They have made some changes that I feel have been very helpful. I like the fact that they have dropped one period so the school day is not so long and exhausting. I feel like my son's school work has improved, his test scores are higher than ever and he has improved in every area of study. Though he struggles with math. He is trying out for track this year, so we are off to a really good start. I like it better now that he is at the 8th grade campus and the setting is just better than the 6-7 grade campus hands down. I think that makes a huge difference. And the building is all one grade, I find that helpful. I find the staff to be helpful and friendly. The web page could use some updating and it takes forever to get your weekly newsletter e-mailed correctly. Short of private school or moving I'm not sure I would be able to find a better school for him in this area.

School is about to start and I'm absolutely not putting my child for 7th grade in that school. 6th grade was horrible, everything was about money. The school could improve by fixing there safety issues, having better conduct, and having better staff. I'm still scrambling on what school I'm gonna my child, but it won't be Hapeville. So far by what my daughter has told and my judgement, the only good thing about the school is food and that doesn't take a big part at all in education and safety so with that being said food doesn't really matter. What really makes me mad is that the children have to walk across the street to go the gym in a very unsafe area, there are many hazardous issues with that . Best advice to give is not to go to Hapeville.

I need more discipline from this school, they lack of it. With my child having major discipline issues they make it worse and don't do anything about, no councilling, nothing. I have had a plethora of issues with the staff. My child wont be going to that school for the 7th grade

I feel that this school was very unorganized, plays FAVOR and if you're not in the INNER CIRCLE, no matter how smart or talented the student is it's hard to feel as if the students are part of the school. Every week it all about MONEY. I have spent so much money through this school it's not funny. The students aren't encouraged, or appreciated. Most of the classes were as if the students were in a barn they were so loud the Teachers has no control.

Overall, I am pleased with Hapeville Middle School. While I am a parent and it is my responsibility to train my child and those in my company, I have no problem with the school that cannot be fixed. For example, the problems with discipline and respect can be thwarted, if not eliminated if the adults in the lives of our children would be consistant in providing a viable example of good behavior. The administration, faculty and staff at Hapeville Charter Middle School do a wonderful job! As a community, parents, guardians, and friends of the school can be most effective in helping the school develop into a more outstanding educational institution by providing positive input and being committed to training children that will develop into exempliary adults

I am sadden by the seventh grader who I think is an intelligent kid, but the diction needs improvement. Please advise all kids that they do not go to a school the attend a school. Please make sure that the kids use all the resources at their disposal and that they should not write a formal message ; in a text message format.

I think its a great school for kids that are in advance classes. I like the smaller classes, where yourm child could get that extra attention they need.

Its a small school with several students with lack of some materials. However the students, parents and teachers make the best of what we have. The students excell well in a variety of subjects. Teachers try to stay in contact with parents as often as they can.

Hapeville is,what I would call a,If-there-is-no-other-school-avalable,school. I have to agree with one of the parents below, there are no buses and if there is they stop at stores and shopping centers which is very unsafe, half the time the parents of the children are not there to get them either. Hapeville can never keep a word they say,for example, they had this dance and it was 5 dollars to go and they said if you paid to get in you get food free and they said it will be pizza, soda and candy, all there was,was caprisuns and pickles. What ashame. The only reason I'd come back is for my friends.

I am in my first year going to the second year of Hapeville Charter and so far i love it and it is probably one of the best schools i've been to, but im not going to say too much cause ive just started in the 6th grade but practically im a 7th grader because it's the end of the school year so yeah. But i can say that some of the teachers for 6th grade will get on your nerves, but after a while you'll get used to them so if you are thinking about joining your child in i would totally recommend other than Renaissance or Sandtown but thats totally your choice. Love my school either way and i plan to be with hapeville till i graduate from HAPEVILLE HIGH LOL HAPEVILLE ALL THE WAY!!

My daughter attended this school for 6th grade and I could not wait to remove her. For the trouble I went to to get her there and back with no viable bus service in my area - It just was not worth it. The teachers are just as comitted as I see in any other SOUTH fulton county schools. But the administratiopn and organization of this school is horrible. It is like a family run business. We paid for and never recieved year books last year. I still call now, over a year later and they give me the run around. Dont waste your time. No music program either. Kept trying to organize a band last year but it never happen. My daughter is better off at Bear Creek. In addition to the fact that I dont have to take her and pick her up all day.

I have to pick up from this school each day, and I find it to be totally unorganized. Some of the teachers don't seem to care much about the students. Picking the children up is dangerous, because of the parking situation. The children are out of control when they hit the front door, just as disrespectful as other children. My greatest pet peeve with is school is the lack of disciplinary procedures. Instead of creating a way to punish children in school for small infractions...they just suspend them. This behavior can really disrupt growing pre teens and send them in the wrong direction. I hope this is the last year for me to come to this school. I'm sure some public schools will be better.

i was so excited when my child got accepted into hapeville. coming from camp creek middle i was excited for new and positive change. the open house was great and things seem to be moving in the right direction. what a disappointment this school has been. there is no internal communication. there seem to be major major behavioral problems with children at this school. while they are building a new academy for high schoolers...i think they need to get the 6th grade campus & the 7th and 8th grade campus on track. sad to say it but, i am too looking for another school going into the 2009-2010 school year.

This is a great school. My son has enjoyed his year so far at Hapeville Charter. Like most of South Fulton students kids are below grade level. My student was welcomed with open arms and his 8th grade teachers have been a blessing to him. I would stongly recommend this school to anyone.

HCMS has truly turned out to be a complete disappointment. During open house they provided outstanding communication of their goals and how they intend to achieve them successfully with the students. Now it appears that they are all talk and no bite. They do not inform parents of their children's progress until the last minute. On several occasions I have left messages and e-mails for the principal along with teachers and failed to receive a response. For a charter school I expected more. This year has truly been a waste; my child will be re-enrolling in public school next year.

HCMS is a waste of my time. This school is lack in organization and quality. The teachers here are not truly their for the student they're there for a paycheck and to communicate with other colleagues about other students or teachers.I feel if your in a classroom learning another teacher from a whole different classroom shouldn't be able to walk in the classroom and start a full blown coversation interrupting the students. It seems as the teachers don't want to communicate with the parents because they have to scheldue an appointment. Why do you have to scheldue an appointment to see what your child is learning. The teachers are allowed to talk to the students any way in any tone. This school will be a waste of anybody middle school year.

I recently left hms. I was an 8th grader in the 07-08 year. I really didn't like that school, and i think i wasted my middle school years there. I'm in high school now, and i have to say that school didn't prepare us at all. All the teachers talked about was how they thought it was funny that we could possibly fail because of thre mistakes. I don't recommend anyone sending thre child to this school.

My daughter is in her 3rd year (8th Grade) at Hapeville Charter Middle School. I am somewhat pleased with the school and the environment. But I truly believe this school needs to weed out some of the teachers that are there merely for employment. Some of the teacher's behaviors are petty and immature. Teachers have to want to Teach and Nurture Kids, not see their weakness and simply talk down and pass negative situations from teacher to teacher. This school is headed in the right direction and has a good vision. We as parents have to continue to address the teachers that are in all schools for merely employment and not for the Nurturing of our children !!!

The school is great and the principal is wonderful. I was purchasing uniforms for my child and the principal was there and took out the time to speak with me and addressed the uniform policy with my son. Most principals will turn their heads in public and thats only if they know you're a student a their school.

I am very excited about my daughters school year I was welcomed with open arms I volunteer everyday and attend every PTCO meeting They have listened and made changes throughout the body of the school they do have several activities for the kids to participate in I love the one on one support the staff and administration gives when there is a concern the school setting is loving and friendly and open the atmosphere that the school displays is wonderful I have always been invited into the school with open arms and pitch in and help out on the daily basis instead of us complaining lets come together and make things happen for our kids they are always looking for parents to volunteer you can only get out of something what you put into it my daughter will be returning next year and I will return with her everyday helping

I was very excited at first as well. But getting a hands on experience my expectation at this school has rapidly decline because of the lack organization. I do understand that there are problems at all schools;but for a charter school with a lesser amount of students things should should go smoother. However, this is not the case at HCMS. I am very displeased with the way teachers at this school handle certain priorities. This adds a sense of gloom over the entire campus. It is important to keep parents involved and Parent Connect should be enforced. You should a much information possible about your child's progress instead of finding out after the fact. I would recommend anyone to wants to enroll their child at HMCS first come and visit.

This school has turned out to be a great disappointment. At the open house they talked the talk but did not walk the talk. Most of the teachers leaves a lot to be desired. They don't have the children's interest at heart. There is much chaos and unorganization. With good teachers and a good principal, this could have been an excellent school. I'm sorry I wasted a year there from my child's middle school years. The availability of extracurricular activities is practical nonexistent. The administration seems as if they do not want parental involvement.

I was very excited about my child attending this school, but to my dismay, I am very disappointed with this school system. The behavior of the students and teachers towards the students in the classroom seemed to be out of control. My feelings are with Hapeville being a 'charter school' I expected higher standards.

HCMS with some organizing, the support of more parents, and Fulton county school system could become one of the better schools in the area. The teachers who are the backbone of the school needs to be a lot stronger than it is at this time.

HCMS has the ability to be a great school. However the quality of students that attend the school takes away for the great vision that is held by the director and the principle. Discipline is a big issue. Many teachers do not have control of their classroom. Some of the teachers aren't there for the love of teaching children. The environment is not conducive to learning. There is a lack of organization and a lack of support from the GA school system for this charter school. I have visited other schools in N. ATL and they receive full support from the Fulton County System. The parents do not support the school either. I was excited about the school but the thrill is gone.

This school has the opportunity to be a really good school considering the parental involvement. However, I have found it to be very unorganized. The teachers don't seem to be as dedicated as they should. They have a long way to go to be a great school.
