Overall the school is great! I have a complaint about the quality of some teachers chosen. I am experiencing a teacher of my niece is rude and she does not know how to treat all children fairly, allowing the same students to do the class assigned jobs. This week of 3/24/2014 she threw my niece fruit and bowl away which she did not purchase and on 3/24/2014 she threw her carrots away saying it would cause ants. They are not eating in the classroom they are in the cafeteria. She need to be reprimand for her actions and possibly take some classes on how to deal with students in the classroom. She has been picking on my niece since the beginning of school.
I feel that this school has fantastic staff who works with parents to overcome any challenges they may face. One thing that concerns me was people saying that the staff was "unfriendly." I have never seen someone in the front office not smiling, or asking if I needed help without putting down anything they are working on and helping me first and foremost. I feel that people have a certain "idea" about what a private school should be and when they have these false visions and something doesn't happen they are upset. As parents we should keep an open mind as to what works best with our children and not bash others when something doesn't go our way. With communication to my child's teacher as priority I have found myself very happy with GCA and will be returning.
Horrible! What happened? My child has attended this school since three and is going on the second year there. Last year Ms. Bates was the principal and she was excellent. The staff was friendly, teachers seemed to be happy and I most of all was impressed. Now comes the second year, Ms. Bates is no longer there and they are horrible. The "new" staff is very unfriendly you can tell they do not want to be there. Even the teacher's attitudes have changed and the new teachers they hired are not impressive, although I absolutely love my child's teacher. The ASP teachers and the ones that they have added always seem as though they do not want to be there. My child will not be attending this school next year. DO NOT take your child there. Unprofessional, Unfriendly, just NOT what it used to be.
Yes it is expensive ...but the people there are exceptional and offer a level of life skills that are lets face it are missing in our current public school system. Christ based education encompasses everything a child needs to become a well rounded member of society. Im excited to see what wonderful things they come up with this year. Thanks to all the staff we made a quick transition from public schools to a place we can call our second home.
The staff is not very friendly and does not care about anything but money. When I went there my 8th grade year I did know that it was a private school and we would be learning a lot about Christ but I didn't think that everything would be based on him. Not being brought up in a very religious household it was very hard to adjust. Subjects like science and language arts were just some of the subjects based on religion. I had been to one other private school before attending Grace Baptist and it was nothing like this. We had 1 class a day and sort of like a church service every Wednesday but as far as academics they were just like going to any regular math or science class.
We have been at GBCS for 8 years. This is a wonderful school expecially the nursery and preschool program. The Preschool building is a beautifully decorated and clean facility. The staff is well trained and loving. The preschool program is an excellent start to any childs educational experience. The K5 and up school building is great as well. Compared to any private Christian education in the area Grace is certainly the place to be.
This is our first year at GBCS and it was the first time that our son was in an envirnment other than being at home with family. We LOVE the preschool program. You can tell that the staff loves our children and their job. We WILL be attending GBCS next year.
We have been a part of GBCS for ten years. The teachers and staff are caring and helpful. My child has always enjoyed school and is a well rounded strong christian. I am thankful to have this school as part of our lives. My child does very well in school and loves histroy, science, art, Bible, and drama classes. She is also offered free help classes twice a week to help with her least favorite subject. (math) We love our school!
My niece has attended Grace for three years, she is a straight A student. She academically out performs children at her grade level that attend other schools. This is my daughters first year and she loves it. The Abeka curriculum is one of the best programs out there. Her teacher is wonderful. The new elementary school Head Master and is administration is very much in control. They have responded to any questions or concerns professionally and courteously.
We have attended Grace for 2 years prior to this school year, I have since removed my children from here. The administration leaves much to be desired, quotes of policies and procedures from admin are usually quoted incorrectly. We were charged all kinds of fees and the children hadn't even started school yet. This is a school that cares about the income only and not the education or treatment of the students/parents. $$$$- NOT the "christian way" as they like to put it. The post from Sept 1 is dead on. What a disappointment this school has turned out to be.
Let me first clarify that I LOVE the daytime Preschool teachers and my rating is not reflective of their support. My rating goes to the administrative staff. The lack of communication and smug remarks burn me with fire! I am vexed by their inconsistent rules and lack for parent involvement. This shall be our last year at GBCS and we have been there for 2 yrs prior to current school year. I had my older child in the elementary school but paid the withdrawal fee and removed him within the first few months of school, b/c I refuse to pay and be treated as though I am just a number. My youngest is still at the preschool, but if things do not change, we will not be for long. There are many parents whom feel the same and GBCS has great potential, but not enough to take them over the top!
My daughter has attended since she was 18 months old. She is now in K-4. We love the christian instruction and high expectations set by the staff.
There are some issues with this school. I could not disagree more with the post from April 15th. The Elementary school principal just quit days before the school year ended only providing two days notice. There are numerous staff members including the High School Principal that are expected not to be back next year due in large part to administration issues. This school has the potential to be great, but they will need to do some serious house cleaning, and take a long hard look in the mirror.
I have had my child here since she was in the 4th grade. I love the great program they offer which is the ACE program This program has given my child the ability to improve her grades, take the stress out of peer pressure and she has greatly enjoyed going there and hopes to graduate from Grace.
The administration and teachers at GBCS greatly love my children and strive to help them be successful!!!
This school started out as a great school. However, in the past three years the school has been on a steady decline. I have removed my children and would not recommend this school to anyone wanting a quality education for their children.
I favor this school because of the academic aspect and the biblical guidance. The diversity and awareness of such, is lacking in my opinion. My child has learned a lot. I won't take that from Grace, but there needs to be more diverse representation among the staff. (The student body is diverse and I believe the staff representation should reflect that of the student body.) I also have learned that the faculty/staff are required to be tithing members of Grace Baptist. That bothers me to some degree. Why does it matter where you serve the Lord - as long as you serve Him? Sounds like a recycle of their money...
I have read several of the reviews listed about this school and I am baffled by one or two. This school does have diversity in both enrollment and staff. The school does have art, drama and a challenging curriculum. Above all, the school provides the Biblical foundation that should be a part of a real education. My family has been there for 7 years and we have watched this school develop and grow and we are very proud to be a part of this school.
If you are seeking a challenging and/or gifted academic program in a diverse/multicultural environment, this is not the school for you. Prior to getting you enrolled, they promise you quite a bit in terms of academics and diversity. However, it doesn't hold true. The student population is very diverse, but the faculty and staff are not. No Asisan, African American or Hispanic faculty or staff. It's a good 'ole girl club & they basically make their own rules & exceptions along the way. Very unorganized and unprofessional. The Principle, Mrs. Howard, put on a good front when we interviewed. She is not responsive or Professional. The teachers are overworked and underpaid without Paras or Assistants. The Christian aspect is good, but aren't Christians supposed to be fair, not pass judgement or discriminate? It's very unfortunate for the students.
This is a good Christian school, but it is not very organized. It is also not a college prep school, they do not offer any honors classes, art, drama, or anything that a larger school would. It is also very small.
