Could someone please share their ciews on the science and tech program at PMMS? is it making a difference? is the worth the kids time, are they learning above the regular curriculum? there has been no updates on the PMMS magnet blog since 2010. Thnks

For the most part, good teachers, good school. Administration gets 1 star--too political and condenscending--especially with the addition of the new woman Asst principle--very prickly, no personality, never smiles. Teachers get 4 stars, with the exception of Ms. C, 7th grade SS,--psycho.

It's funny to see disgruntled parents whining about their darling kids being "picked" on...parents who can't even use proper grammar or spell correctly. Anyway, great school and great teachers. Very happy that my child is there.

I went to PMMS all 3 three years and I had a wonderful time. Like mentioned, some of the teachers are racist, and yes, they will pick on your child for no reason at all sometimes (Watch out for their mood swings). They need to improve their cafeteria management because eveyone occasionally finds something unique in their food. But overall, it's a nice school with a nice band program and most of the staff is ver helpful and polite.

I hate this school and cant wait for my child to get out of there! Watch out for Mrs. McNew. She will write up your child for the stupidest things. If its not on the form she will make it up just so she can get your child in trouble. I laugh every time I see one come home because I know she has something against my child. We havent seen one from her since we confronted the Princepal about it. Obviously she got reprimanded for picking on a student!

This school is the best one that i have ever gone 2! the teachers are fun, caring, and believe that we are the future of this country so they help us go above and beyond!! mrs. Gannon and mrs irwin, ur both my inspiration! dr. Redmond, the principal, takes alot of concern on the eighth graders and there are alot of clubs and activities! sure the class rooms arent big but they have added a new wing 4 orchestra(which is awesome!), band, chorus, reading, mentally ill children, and amazing bathrooms! all of the teachers try and make u do ur best at evrything. So i believe this school is fabulous 4 many more reasons!

The administration is weak at handling student disagreements. They also apply double standards in conflict resolution and the principal seems to be very in-effective. Most of the teachers are good but I have a big problem with the don't care attitude of the administration.

Woe to the child who doesn't have the scores to make it in the target program. High achieving students can make 100 averages in all their classes, but the administration refuses to allow them to be challenged in the target program because of test scores on standardized tests. I know of children in neighboring middle schools where the administrators and teachers have set aside classes for those high acheivers who are not being challenged enough in the 'regular' classes. Not at Pine Mountain. I have asked to arrange field trips only to be told that if everyone cannot attend from the whole grade at the same time, the trip cannot happen... and yet the target program is taking a three day field trip while the regular classes are put on hold for them to return. There is no incentive for most of the children to apply themselves and work hard.

Great extracurricular activities, especially in the band/orchestra category. Also team handball, chess club, etc. Great values taught thru programs that encourage students to help others.

Pine Mountain is a great school for your children to learn and feel safe in. The teachers and staff are great and are always there to help you with any concerns.

Make sure your child turns in all homework, classwork and if absent, get makeup work in asap. They count every little 'thing' on their grades. They do have a wonderful target program, jazz band and orchestra.
