I'm kind of scared to see how KMHS will be in the future due to the kids from Pine Mountain. (Im a sophomore at KMHS) . Ive heard alot of bad things from people i know about the kids in PMMS. They spit water on eachother, they push eachother around in the all screaming "YEET", They took away their locker breaks because of how bad they are, (Talking about the 2013 8th graders aka Rising Freshmen this year) And when i was there as an 8th grader 2 years ago, The teachers were horrible, my class was bad. (Not anymore) The 7th and 6th graders were horrible. This school is just terrible and staff does nothing about it and teachers have no control over classrooms.
Our school is starting to move out of title 1 due to the fact that a poor neighborhood is going to Atlanta. Otherwise it is a Great School. Everything is organized and better for students on different levels of learning (AC, Reg Ed; LD)
BEST BAND TEACHERS EVER!!! 6TH GRADE. FLUTE PLAYER!!!!!! LOVE MS. ARMBREWSTER AND MRS. STILLS.,... best all around school... anywhere!!!!
The teachers were very supportive and tried hard to help students improve. There were numerous extracurricular activities and the school lunch was good.
I like this school because there are nice teachers and our new building it pretty.
AC program is very strong. Plenty of extra-curricular activities (band, chorus, news team, drama, etc.).
Could someone please share their ciews on the science and tech program at PMMS? is it making a difference? is the worth the kids time, are they learning above the regular curriculum? there has been no updates on the PMMS magnet blog since 2010. Thnks
For the most part, good teachers, good school. Administration gets 1 star--too political and condenscending--especially with the addition of the new woman Asst principle--very prickly, no personality, never smiles. Teachers get 4 stars, with the exception of Ms. C, 7th grade SS,--psycho.
It's funny to see disgruntled parents whining about their darling kids being "picked" on...parents who can't even use proper grammar or spell correctly. Anyway, great school and great teachers. Very happy that my child is there.
I love this school becuse it has a grate orchesta, band, chouirs and they all play nice. i Love the muisic program and im excited for our new building that going to be fiish in 1 year
I went to PMMS all 3 three years and I had a wonderful time. Like mentioned, some of the teachers are racist, and yes, they will pick on your child for no reason at all sometimes (Watch out for their mood swings). They need to improve their cafeteria management because eveyone occasionally finds something unique in their food. But overall, it's a nice school with a nice band program and most of the staff is ver helpful and polite.
Very nice school! I wish it had more activities for the children for afterschool and dances.
I love this school. I think if you are looking for a good education than you should come here. There are grate programs and as a student there were alot of cool, fun, incurring people that i can call friends.
This school is the best one that i have ever gone 2! the teachers are fun, caring, and believe that we are the future of this country so they help us go above and beyond!! mrs. Gannon and mrs irwin, ur both my inspiration! dr. Redmond, the principal, takes alot of concern on the eighth graders and there are alot of clubs and activities! sure the class rooms arent big but they have added a new wing 4 orchestra(which is awesome!), band, chorus, reading, mentally ill children, and amazing bathrooms! all of the teachers try and make u do ur best at evrything. So i believe this school is fabulous 4 many more reasons!
I think the school is pretty good. The teacher are wonderful, and I enjoy the band.
I think this school is pretty good, but its very old aand needs some work. The teachers are great and you learn alot their, I think.
The administration is weak at handling student disagreements. They also apply double standards in conflict resolution and the principal seems to be very in-effective. Most of the teachers are good but I have a big problem with the don't care attitude of the administration.
Woe to the child who doesn't have the scores to make it in the target program. High achieving students can make 100 averages in all their classes, but the administration refuses to allow them to be challenged in the target program because of test scores on standardized tests. I know of children in neighboring middle schools where the administrators and teachers have set aside classes for those high acheivers who are not being challenged enough in the 'regular' classes. Not at Pine Mountain. I have asked to arrange field trips only to be told that if everyone cannot attend from the whole grade at the same time, the trip cannot happen... and yet the target program is taking a three day field trip while the regular classes are put on hold for them to return. There is no incentive for most of the children to apply themselves and work hard.
Excellent learning and growing environment for students. Great educational and administrative staff. Truly concerned with the daily lives of all students.
Great extracurricular activities, especially in the band/orchestra category. Also team handball, chess club, etc. Great values taught thru programs that encourage students to help others.
