This is as good as it gets for a public school. Be proactive and involved. The special education folks at Lewis are FANTASTIC. One particular special ed instructor (whose name starts with a B) is absolutely fantastic with my son. She cherishes him as an individual and celebrates his strengths. She also goes above and beyond to really get him reaching his goals and feeling confident. My son is in kindergarten, and has made so much progress this year already. I love this school. Fantastic!

My daughter starts 2nd grade and her second year in gifted. My son will be starting 3rd grade this fall, 2013/14. We love Lewis and feel at home with staff and teachers. Lewis is the ideal learning environment for my children. Excellent interaction with school staff- school is always clean and organized; staff is very involved, caring and professional, leading by example with a positive attitude.

I am very pleased with the education my children are receiving at this school. The class size is smaller compared to the state average, and the teachers are a good fit for my children.

My child was homeschooled until now. I was very skeptical about the public school system and reluctant on registering her in one. I was convinced to give it a try and that try was Lewis. I have been extremely pleased! And, that's not easy!!!

All 4 of my children have attended Lewis since 1999. I was a wonderful school until Bullard opened and the district changed. Along with children from other areas came new teachers. Some are great , others not so much. This school DOES cater to PTSA parents as stated in another comment and many of the younger teachers are great however, they do not seem to handle behavior problems very well. We haven't had much success with help with a bullying issue from ANYONE and had to seek advice from our local authorities and contact the parents ourselves. We have one more child who will start school in 2 years and are planning a move to another school. We will have a new principal this school year, 08-09, and I DO anticipate a change for the better.

Mrs. Schumacher is a professional's professional. We too were skeptical of public education, but this wonderful school has calmed our fears. Redistricting will lower class sizes for the '09-'10 school year.

My son has been at Lewis since first grade and is now a well educated 5th grader there. The teachers and staff are what every parent hopes for, for their child. Everyone really works together, teachers, staff, parents and students to make this a truly wonderful school. There are opportunities for every level of student to grow and flourish, from special needs children to the children in the Target classes. No one is left out. I could only wish this environment for every child.

My sons attended Lewis for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Lewis is an excellent school w/ and excellent staff and wonderful parental support. I cannot say enough about Ms. Chesser, and in particular Ms. Hensarling, Mrs. Stubbs, and Mrs. Janet Wright. I wish we were still there!

At first I was skeptical b/c we came from a wonderful school but my daughter has excelled while in Lewis. She's been there for 3 years and we have loved every one of her teacher. The ciriculum is fantastic. Every student is assesed and taught based on their knowledge - very important to me since she is above average for her grade.

Great Leadership at Lewis. Teachers are awesome but he after school program could be improved. Kids have the ability to walk away from Lewis with much more than when they came in. They really motivate the kids.
