This is my daughter 2nd year at Mckendree Elementary. Her kindergarden teacher was very caring and supportive about my daughter education she recognize my daughter's potentials. She alway exceeds in each subject. This year she is in the 1st grade and there's not enough words can explain how awesome her teacher this year is. I'm extremely satisfied with the staff members at this school and the academic program.
Teacher quality Principal leadership is excellent 2 kids through this school. could not be more pleased
My three children have attended McKendree for the past six years. We have four more school years to go to get all three through the school. The current principal is very nice and accomdating to parents. Just like the last principal if there is a parent concern you can reach her with those concerns. The teachers are well versed and great. I am pleased as a parent. It has not only a family feel, but excellent teachers. The only thing about the school that dissappoints me is the limited diversity in the staff. The area is very diverse, which I personally love, and the staff should be more diverse as well.
My daughter has been in McKendree since 2nd grade and she is now in the 4th. I have nothing but praise to say about this school. I am a hands on parent and very involved with my daughter's academic career. The teachers have been nothing but supportive with my daughters needs and progress in each grade. My experience with McKendree is that I am very extremely pleased with how things have gone thus far. I cannot speak yet on the principal because I have not met her ... YET!
Compared with the previous school my kid attended, the school needs more quality teachers based on my experience with an elementary school teacher. When I attended the first parent meeting and asked her questions, she spent only 5 minute answering my questions, but she talked to another parent she knows for more than 15 minutes. In the second parent's meeting, when I started asking her questions about my kid in her class, she said that "he is PERFEECt" and then stops. She is not patient and rude. I spoken to other parent about her, we both thought that she has her preference to some students in her class. My kid also told me that she always neglected him when he tried to answer her questions, which made him felt less confident.
For this consultant. Just because a parent complains about the school DOES NOT mean they aren't involved. Of course you are going to see the greener side of things because of your title. Until you have a child that attends there and isn't of the elite that they cater to, then you don't need to assume that all children are treated fairly at the school. For the record, I've heard several parents complain about mistreatment of students who aren't problematic. My child hasn't been protected by adults there, and I am deeply involved as a parent. You need to stay in your lane, and I'm saddened that someone like you is actually working for our schools when you obviously don't want to SEE a problem. That's why nothing is solved, that's what's wrong with education, one sided view. By the way, I teach too!
I am the mother of 3 African-American boys. So I guess I am considered 'minorty', I am a serious critic when it comes to my children. McKendree is as diverse as you can get in Gwinnett County, GA and it's in a nice area. I have never experienced any prejudice.I have encountered nothing but the best teachers, Dr. Dickson, Ms. Allred, and Ms. Botts at McKendree. The teachers are caring and the truly take an active role in teaching. This was our first year at McKendree and it has been a wonderful year. Tutoring has helped out my youngest son. His teacher also would let him come before class started so that he may catch up on his work. My children feel love and appreciated at McKendree. And Ms. Antrim will be missed they need more principals like her. I can't wait until next year.
I am a consultant and thus in lots of different schools across the country. I visit this school 6 times per year and am impressed with the teachers whom I work with in Kindergarten. The facility itself is light, bright, and filled with lots of attractive student generated artwork. The office personnel are friendly and kind. Criticism can come easy on an anonymous web page....especially by parents who are not involved in the school or those who do not understand the entire picture of education.
I do not know what these other Parents are seeing. But my child has never been so neglected in a school before. The Teachers are rude and very abrupt. I do not like how they treat or talk to the children. They have entirely too many children attending tutoring after school, and the direction of the teaching is not top knotch. I do feel that thereis some prejudice as well, when it comes to children of a minority. Once this school term is complete all of my children will be pulled from this school, and enrolled at a much better school found on this sight. All I can say to future potentials to this school, is to talk to your children. Ask them about the teachers, and the school. ETC This is not a good school. The principal needs to be replaced, and some of the teachers need to be re-evaluated.
I love McKendree! My kids have been through McKendree - 3 of them from K through 5th. Any complaints that I see are not the fault of the administration or staff or PTA but the county level. Administrators are not supported by the county office so, at times, teachers are not supported. The county needs to get a backbone and stand up to parents who are irrational. The principal has always been open to me and friendly to students.
