Lee county is growing rapidly in these couple of years, so the numbers of students coming in lee is growing too. It does not seem that the school system can catch up with the growth rate to maintain quality, fill up staffs and all that. It is a great school overall though. Like somebody said, we need more schools set in separate zones to avoid 1 hour bus trip. I think teachers and all are trying so hard to maintain Lee co schools' reputation. I hope they push more on math programs.
The teachers are excellent and love the children.
I love this school!!!! It's the best school my child has ever been in.Congrats Lee County Elementary School!!!!!!!
school leadership is weak at best. the teachers are inconsistant and do not apply the same principles throughout the body.
The faculty and staff are very approachable and dedicated. The PTO is very active, but they are always looking for new volunteers. Academically, the school is great, but they don't get a lot of social time. Only the 3rd graders have recess. 4th and 5th grade has a 10 minute break and assigned seats at lunch. Also, most people don't live near the school, so the bus rides can last over one hour.
Lee County needs to spread it's schools out into the county. The school board is trying hard to make it a hometown school feel, but we are in growing times and need more schools out of the city of Leesburg. Locating all of the schools there is a traffic hazard twice a day. Plus it is out of the way for you to attend things in the school. This school also desperately needs more palyground equipment and swings.
I am at LCES every single day and I am happy to say that children talk in the lunchroom, in the halls, in the classrooms, at PE, Music, Art and on their break! Kids are allowed to be kids all of the time. Rules aren't always fun but to keep a safe environment they need to be enforced. LCES does try to teach respect for others. That is the very reason that I love the school!
I feel this school could greatly improve by better communication. It also needs to work on student interaction. There is no talking in the halls, no talking & assigned seating at lunch, no recess... when do they get to know each other & be kids... As adults, we wouldn't want to spend our days like that.
