I think that the teachers are more worried about coaching instead of getting my child prepared for college.

I think OCHS and the other schools in Oglethorpe County are very good. They all made AYP and the graduation rates are improving each year. Firm but fair! They are very strict on students who repeatedly refuse to follow the rules. I like that. My kids are doing very well there.

My children were homeschooled before attending OC. They entered at middle school level. After 1 year in this system, their test scores dropped! While I have encountered several teachers who seem to really care and put forth effort for the students, there are many just here for a paycheck. Standards and expectations of the majority of parents seem to be low. Values and morals are not high priorities in this county. As for athletics, it is very unorganized!! Putting my children in this system was the worst thing I ever did!!!

Oglethorpe County has a great school system in many ways, unless you have a child in the special education programs. Otherwise, the experience is pretty good. I have three children in the school system, and they enjoy going to school. The kids at these schools like each other for who they are, not for the color of their skin. The sports program is pretty good, except we need a stronger football team. The band program is excellent!

I have been very happy with the high school here.Like my parents, I attended Oglethorpe. My child is taking a night school class only because she chose to do so. This allowed her to take an extra science class she wanted.

I wouldn't give you two cents for this high school (the elementary and middle schools are great). When the students hit high school their failure rate and drop out rate increases. Unless your social status is high amongst the high and mighty club of Oglethorpe County make sure you are prepared to send your child(ren) to night school - their money maker. Check with Madison County night school and see what the percentage rates for Oglethorpe High School students are that are having to attend night school just to pass. Strange how most of these students in high school can learn in their night school on their own better than they can in a classroom at this school! Remember night school is a money maker so get prepared to pay $150 per unit or $75 per 1/2 unit if you want to get in here.

I think that Oglethorpe Co. High is wonderful. It's really easy to make friends here and enjoy your classes. Teachers are strict yet fair and I have had a much more pleasant experience since I've moved in from Oconee County.
