I am graduating this year and I just have to say that my experience at Berkmar has been wonderful. All 4 years have been very good. I enjoyed taking part in the AP Program because I feel like it really pushed me to be a stronger student, physically and intellectually. The AP teachers are really good and they push you to do your best. I've more than 10 AP courses and if I could I would take even more. I believe that taking AP/Honors courses really does make you a better individual and that it helps prepare you for college. Our AP Program is one of the best in the nation and we've received many awards for it. Any future student who will be going to Berkmar is definitely in good hands. The CP classes here are fun too, so take a little bit of both! Art and Oceanography! :D
This school is based on popularity to be honest . They will judge you be what you wear and what you do . To them talking back to the teacher is the most funniest thing . In one word i can discribe this school , immature . But really it all depends on staying above the influence . Trust me people do make you change , and not to good but to bad . The teachers are not strict enough , some dont know even how to handle their own students . Its really just a shame . Im being 100% honest . If you do attend well just try your best to focus on what really matters your future . Cause what you do now can affect it.
First of all, unlike other schools, Berkmar provides boundless support for students who desire to seek higher levels of education and allows for the opportunity of being involved with various AP/Honors classes. However, Berkmar has a great lack of school spirit especially for students who are not involved in advanced classes and neither involved in Sports or other extracurricular club activities. Berkmar should further consider foreign language classes to be core classes in which colleges now highly submit as a requirement.
This is a wonderful school with a great academic program, I believe the school is fully prepared to create successful students, all it takes is that the parents become more dedicated in the academic success of this children, and the students take advantage of the benefits Berkmar has to offer.
Academic wise, Berkmar High School is amazing. The AP program is beyond most other high schools. It was recognized by College Board and won many awards and recognitions. Other than academics, to be honest, I'm not a big fan. I love the school, just not the people in it. The students who are not AP or Honors students are immature and and simply a nuisance.
Berkmar was just ranked number #151 in the NATION!! Top 4 High School in the state of Georgia!!!!! http://apps.washingtonpost.com/highschoolchallenge/schools/2011/berkmar-lilburn-ga/
I have nothing but positive things to say about Berkmar High School. I have a daughter that graduated from Berkmar in 2010 (with Honors) and a rising 9th grader starting there this year C/O 2015. I can honestly say that I made a great decision in chosing a house based on the schools in the area. Sweetwater Middle is a great feeder school and I am impressed with my experiences in Gwinnett and this district. The theatre program is top rate and the faculty consist of great caring people and some are alumni of the school or at least the district of GCPS. There are only 2 minor draw backs at BHS, the lack of a Jr. ROTC program (although students do have a chance to split thier schedules and take Jr ROTC at neighboring high school) and more supportive services for students that are on a career / technical track instead of college prep. I have witnessed a few students that graduated from BHS with no clear direction on post-secondary option or career paths and I truly believe that a Jr ROTC program may be able peek the interest of students that aren't particular college bound straight out of high school. Other than those two minor factors, I would rate Berkmar a 8.9 - 9.1. o
berkmar high school is good educatioal wise but other than that the school is trashy (the kids included)
this school is awesome despite the criticism from the public...if this school was so horrible then i would never have a 99 in biology, a87 in honor L.A, 84 in accelerated algebra, and a freaken 100 in AP Human Geography!Miss Brodnax is an awesome science teacher...if you know how to appreciate her.by the way, I'm a freshman.
i am a student a t berkmar and i love it it is the best school there programs are the best i was a sped kid dont know why i needed those classes i was to smart but i was able to reat my freshman year and have a technical diploma its better than nothing im doing good now that its my junior year i just didnt like this school to begin with cause i wanted to go to norcross but im glade i didnt and now there saying some are going to other schools next semmester cause where they live i aint going to lame poor educated meadowcreek to much drama i perfer to be at berkmar cause one teacher Mrs,Lynes my 1st fresh~man year she was teaching anger manegment i learned allot from her thank you mrs.Lynes you know who im am the one who stops by at times
The faculty is very supportive and helpful. They put in a lot of time and effort to guide me through my struggles.
First of all, I was a previous student from Berkmar High School. I went there all four years of my high school career. I agree the school does have ups and downs as far as the teachers..The ones that I've had were always caring. If you put forth the effort that is. Mrs. Seay, Mrs. Vander Ven, Ms. Webb, and other's who work there are wonderful people. The people who work at the front desk are nice (I kno. I had to work with them during my senior year)..I have friends on both sides of the fence...the ones who came to school and the others who didnt so I should know how that school works..lol
I am a student at Berkmar High School, and I love the school. It offers an exellent ap program. Berkmar is not as bad as people describe it. Patriots!
I am s students a Berkmar in lmy junior year. i love some aspects of berkmar such as the amazing A.P progra her and dedicated teachers such as Mr. Jameson and Dr. Snow but... somethings could be better. for example the test scores and school spirt.
I graduated from Berkmar and I loved all 4 years there. Berkmar has an incredible AP program. The teachers helped prepare me for college and real life. I now go to Georgia State and I have a 3.6 GPA. I don't think I could have gotten to this point in my life if I didn't have the encouragement and help from some of my great teachers. Berkmar does have its downs though...like its extracurricular programs. There isn't as much student involvement as there should be. I believe the large population of immigrants is the cause of the low student involvement after school. But the diversity is great. Berkmar is a great school and should never be compared to a school like Meadowcreek or Shiloh....I hate how other Gwinnett County schools put Berkmar in a category like that.
Berkmar, like any high school has its ups and downs, but overall its amazing. That's why I'd give it 5 stars any day. In fact, I would never go to any other high school no matter how rich or prestigious. Of course there are some teachers who don't give a care, but there are others who I swear live there. Our AP program is top-notch and we work the best with what we've got! I am in the middle of my sophmore year, but I already know I want to stay here for all through senior year. No matter who you are or where you are from, you belong. I swear I have not found ne student who does not have one friend or group of friends to whom they belong. Thats all due to the diversity and strength of Berkmar. I type so much because I know how great Berkmar is.
This school is awesome, great teachers and student body. I have both CP and AP classes and I have to say I learn a lot in both and I get tons of HW. Very clean school, very clean bathrooms (Except ESOL hall, we know why too.) Very safe even if we didnt have the cameras
My daughter is an excellent student at Berkmar High School! Wow. Berkmar is great for helping her at the beginning with her struggles. :)
most of the teacher can teach, and feshman consuolar is very very active. willing to make a change for ya. let say 35% of these teachers really cares about you. if your kid is shy, they sure will get bully in this school, the hall packed with camarea are for reasons. lots of student that aren't in ap/gifted that just don't care about school. i have knowed many student skips class every day, and berkmar keep making new rules to prevent that happen. students skip to walmart, krogar, subway, or mcdonle. overall teacher aren't bad just most of the students are.
