I'm sure that there are some positive attributes to this school, but the negatives with my experience out weigh the positives. The teachers lack patience and empathy for the students. They discipline by yelling and ridiculing. I felt like my son's teacher was annoyed by my involvement. Information to parents is not in a timely manner. It's as if dysfunction and disorganization is the standard for this school. Dropping off my son was disorderly. Some days someone was outside to monitor drop-off and some days there wasn't. Most often, I escorted him in the building. Teachers are highly unprofessional. Overall, I'm appalled by my experience with Redan Elemenatary.

I am very pleased with Redan Elementary! My daughter is starting her second year there and her Kindergarten experience was by far the best. All the Kindergarten teachers played a large part in her development. The After School staff is an excellent group of caring individuals as well. Summer Camp is also offered and is very helpful for working parents. I could go on and on about the wonderful things that this school offers and Principal Taylor is the best!

This is one of the worst schools in the county. The teachers don't care about the students, the teachers are very unorganized and rude and between the teachers and the principal the only solution to any problem that they can come up with is suspension. What they really need to do is tear that old school down and rebuild and replace all the teachers and the principal with people who really care about the well being of the kids and their education.

I absolutely love this school,my boys attend here for the last 4 years. They have had grandmother type and auntie type teachers they truly believe in the village raising a child. Since Principal Taylor came she has give us new teachers policies, healthy lunch menus, teacher tutorial for CRCT, after school program, improved music classes, creative fun reading awareness activities. The PTA is very active and parents are always encouraged to participate. I have seen students sent to school sick and without breakfast and they were comforted and fed either by the parent volunteer or the teacher in that class. Teaching is a thankless and overwhelming job, try being 'mother' for 17 kids at a time, no amount of training or school can prepare you for that.

This is a great school with a new principle that has gone out of her way with hands-on participation in all programs and events. A couple of years back when my daughter attended and went on a field trip with the guards, the bus didn't arrive until almost 11:00p.m. and she was there to make sure all went well. She continues to be enthusiastic and this has filtrated throughout the schools. All parents are challenged to complete at least 10 volunteer hours helping students and teachers. Positive and progressive changes continue in this school.

I find that the teachers work extremely hard in this high performing learning community. This school is about service to the parents, service to the students and service to the community. The principal is very professional, dedicated and determined for the teachers and students to excel in all areas. She is a great source of encouragement to all who know her and to those that meet her for the first time. She truly is dedicated to the 'babies' of Redan. She is there to serve all without hesitation. This school has various programs and activities for the students. This school has as much to offer students, as any school in the USA. This school has dedicated teachers and an administrative team that is willing to go the extra miles to help the 'babies'.

My son attends this school, he transferred from Gwinnett County and he has also attended other dekalb county schools in the area. This school is by far the worst school in Dekalb county that I have seen. I am so disgusted and highly unpleased w/ this school. The staff at Redan is not organized and the teachers do not care enough about the children succeeding and learning. This school is a mess. I wish my son did not have to attend this school. The staff at redan really needs to wake up!

My son attends this school. His teachers have gone above and beyond to help him with areas that he has struggled with. He is now an Honor Roll student and he loves school! The principal has done a lot to beautify the school and make sure that it is clean as well.

Redan Elementary is a High Performing Learning Community. I have seen the teachers work hard to go the extra mile. Teachers are very dedicated to the cause of helping students to be the best that they can be because they are the future leaders of tomorrow. Teachers are willing to donate their time, money and energy to help students be successful. The administrative staff is very help and supportive of the faculty, students and parents. The secretaries are very efficient and willing to help.

Some of the teachers and staff have a very poor attitude. I don't feel like they are doing 100%. I attended Redan as a student years ago and it has changed for the worst. They need to get a staff that is there for the students and would make the school successful and make the parents feel like they actually care, starting in the front office.
