I agree with the overall majority here, especially Mr. Beta/French retiree. I am a 1991 Honor Graduate of Central High. I am greatful for every challenging experience and the amazing teachers who gave heart and souls into educating. When offered a teaching scholarship by one of my teachers(R.I.P Mrs. Brannen) ,I declined. As much as I loved Education and helping my peers I did not want to be at thee forefront of shaping the minds of others. Little did I know, I would be back at my ALMA MATAR 15 yrs later doing that exact thing..Building Character and shaping young minds. *Mind Over Matter" GO Chargers!

This was the worst school experience I have ever had! The school was dirty and unkept, and you couldn't drink out of the fountains. The school has since been remodeled and hopefully those problems have been fixed. There were many fights and I feared for my safety on multiple occaisions. The teachers, and students of the International Baccalaurete program are very uppety. The IB classes that I was in were no different than my current honors classes in another county. The office staff is very rude, and unhelpful. They make it seem as if you make them go out of the way for theirr everyday tasks.

Central has highly qualified teachers who care about the well roundedness of the students. Students are able to graduate International Bacculaurate degree, college prep., vocational and fine arts diploma. This fall they moved into a state of the arts building. I taught at Central for more than 18 years and thoroughly enjoyed working with the students, faculty and administration.

Central is a diverse, inner-city school boasting of 2 magnet programs-Fine Arts and International Baccalaureate. I am both a parent and 25+ year employee. Central is a great school!

I have spent a life time teaching here. I retired in '05. I have had a most wonderful experience in growth and teaching. I continue to teach one French class at Central.

Central is a historic inner city school with a fabulous IB program, outstanding AP classes, a Fine Arts Magnet Program, outstanding ROTC, and award winning Mock Trial team year after year. It is part of the glue that holds Macon, GA together.

The International Baccalaureate program, one of the few in the state, leads a strong set of academic and arts programs. Academic teams are perennial state and regional champions. Soccer team is usually strong. The teachers and staff are quite dedicated. The weakness is the physical plant, but that is projected for renovation or rebuilding in near future.
