Heritage Elementary School

My name is Colette Edghill, Brooklyn New YORK, My 3 grandchildren attends the HERITAGE SCHOOL in Macon and needless to say I had concern about the type of education they are receiving...In Brooklyn, N.Y. they attended an excellent Elementary School. They excelled in all subjects.Aamani Odle 4th Grader was elected to attend Princeton University Young Scholar Program.Hopefully your school is doing just as well by their students. A concern Nana.

I have always found this school to be very welcoming. Administration is always visible (they even stand out in the heat during dismissal). Both Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Sadler love the students and take a lot of time getting to know each of them. I feel like my children are safe and are receiving a good education.

i have two boys that have been at heritage since kindergarten and have always been kept up to date on any and all circumstances i've always been supported by mrs. jackson and have talked to her personally several times i love this school people please realize that all bad things can't be kept away from our children all we can do is make sure our children are not a problem but the solution

Please give us new administration for the 2009-2010 school year. The only principal that parents could talk to has left. We need a parent and student friendly principal. Donna Jackson is never at the school and even when she is she does not have time to talk to parents or students. Jennifer Sadler does not even know who the parents are and we do not know her. Kaye Hlavaty knew all the students names by sight and knew many of the parents too. She was available and we could talk to her. Please bring her back or find us a parent and student friendly principal.

We are thrilled with Heritage. We were skeptical about the Bibb County School system but decided to give it a try before we went to a private school. The key to success is for the parents to get involved. I am the room mom for my son's class. It is a lot of work, but VERY rewarding.

I wish we would get another new pricinpal. We opened this school with my oldest 2 children and currently have one child there and will have another there next year. I have many more years of Heritage left. I have seen it go from a wonderful place where parents, teachers and students were happy to a miserable place. Many of our great teachers we opened with have gone and I fear that more will leave after this year. Ms Jackson is worse than Dr Hlavaty ever was. We need Mr Montgomery to be our principal. I wish that Ms Patterson would have taken our recommendations at the principal meeting held late last year before they named Ms Jackson our principal. She is making life miserable for all, and the worse thing about it is that she does not even see it, she blames everything on PTA, teachers and the staff.

The students don't seem effected by punishment. Too many horrible things are happening but it doesn't seem to be getting any safer. I feel it will get to the point of searching backpacks and monitoring the playground and walk and talk areas. It has got to change before something terrible happens and we end up on the national news.

Glad to see Heritage is getting a New Principal! We need a committed person to take over and make this school as wonderful as it should be.I should not need to worry about my children being harmed while at school, if they are harmed or harassed, I need to know that it will be handled.

I am surprised to read that a parent at Heritage could be dissatisfied with our school! The administration and teachers are more than willing to work with parents who approach them with questions or concerns. I have found the staff to be caring and devoted to all of the students! I am very fortunate that my children attend Heritage Elementary!

I am very impressed with Heritage. My boys (1st and 5th grade)love their teachers and are getting an excellant education. It is obvious that the teachers, parapros and administration love the students at Heritage.

My daughter has been at Heritage since 2003. The school has since then gone down bad. The teachers are always frustrated and the Principals do not care about the well being of your child. When my daughter was being harrassed by several kids they didn't do anything about it. We will not be sending our other child here and we will be glad when this year is over. Dr. Hlaverty is very rude!

Less than stellar security. ANYONE can enter from unlocked doors all over building. Trailers for K5 & 3rd are old and dirty/disgusting. Neighborhoods feeding into Heritage becoming increasingly bad. Parking HORRIBLE at 3:15, teachers/parapros seem unhappy/angry all the time.

This school is great! My child goes there. She's in Mrs.Valtierra's class.She's also in Beta Club, Reach = a program for gifted & smart.Heritage is great!
