This is a great school! My child has had a wonderful four years and will graduate this year.
The school is steadily improving. My daughter has attended Rutland for 2 years, and this year seems best by far. She say the school has brought in some caring, and experienced teachers. The school is bringing in some great new teachers, who are dedicated and strive for excellence. Rutland is on the right track to becoming a academically excelling school.
This school is good, on the right track to great. It has hired some experienced and caring teachers who strive for excellence. I think if it continues to bring in some great teachers as it has the past two years, it will become a dominant academic school in middle Georgia.
Rutland is a great school. It also has an excellent enviroment for children.
I have observed all public schools in Macon, except Central (the school I actually graduated from). Without question, Rutland HS is the best public high school in Macon, relative to the students. They are the best. The staff is also great. The only negative about Rutland HS is the principal. She is a know it all. If she wants your opinion, she will definitely give it to you. I taught there the last two years. The first year I was there, Jim Finch was principal. He literally turned around the school. Before he arrived, Rutland was 4th in the county for test scores. During his command, Rutland went to 1st in the county in testing. It's unfortunate he left to go to Mary Persons in Forsyth. What they currently have at Rutland is definitely a step down.
This school really doesn't have as many good, caring teacher's as they do teacher's the student's can't understand. Overall as far as teaching goes this school does not even deserve one star.
overall this school is safe for your child experience and academic activities that are necessary for college.
