We LOVE Due West! We have been here for over two years and my children are absolutely thriving! Due West provides a nurturing and loving environment as well as an excellent academic program. All of the teachers they have had have been top notch. I know that they will be successful in middle school due to the solid foundation they are receiving at DWE. It is a wonderful school community with high parent involvement. Five stars!!!

Being a small school community, I feel the faculty and teachers can focus attention on the students to help them develop in this area.

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

Our teachers have been very supportive and communicate very effectively. The specials teachers are particularly good and our kids frequently come home talking about the fun things they are doing in specials.

Amount of homework: Strongly agree

Very interesting challenges supported by good online resources. Good communication from teachers on what is required.

Due West is a small school. Because of that, there is a great community and lots of attention for each student. Also great communication from each of the teachers our kids have had.

Teachers are inconsistent with how they praise the students as 'bucket fillers'. Some teachers focus on individuals doing good while others make the whole class suffer for a couple of children who have less than desirable behavior.

This is our second year at DW. Last year was terrible. We had a new teacher who was completely disorganized and we never knew what was going on. This year has been no better no matter how optimistic we were. So far we are not impressed at all. I wish I could get in to details but I really would prefer to stay anonymous as I do want any other reason for rude treatment at this school. The front office staff is rude. Well, 2/3 of them anyway. My children even say they don't smile in the front office. Kids see things most adults overlook. Anyhow, this school has not impressed us in any way other than the 'specials' teachers, all of which are fantastic. It's too bad. Elementary school should not have to be this hard to run. My children should be wanting to go to school and instead they fight us every day.

The quality of the leadership and teaching at this school are amazing. Parental involvement is some of the highest I've ever seen. Love the smaller community feel. No wonder so many do whatever they can to have their children at Due West.

They focus on respecting others and their belongings and responsibility and foster an environment that supports this.

There is honestly nothing special about Due West. Our current teacher this year is so unorganized and scattered it is frustrating! When speaking she doesn't think, is often rude, and has to be asked and emailed numerous times before getting a response. The other parents think of it as "private school ", but it is just an average elementary school. Perhaps we will get a teacher that has time for our child's learning difficulties and not one that is only able to relate and praise the students who "get it" right away. Truly hoping our Due West experience gets better and it is just our current teacher that has put a negative taste in our mouth.
