The administration at Cheatham Hill is fantastic, as are all of the teachers my children have had so far. Any time we've had an issue, it's been addressed quickly and effectively. The school is diverse, so the parent involvement is not as high as I'd like, but the ones that do participate are very invested and effective.
I have 2 kids at this school and can tell that the teachers at Cheatham Hill Elementary School are the best. They have tons of different activates that keep our children engaged.
This year has been terrible! I am not impressed with the first grade teacher my son has. She singles out certain students and is very condescending and inconsistent I could go and on but I won t. The administration is the same way and it s no wonder the teacher (s) act is if they are above the law . Very discouraging .
I agree first grade teachers are horrible. I have made complaints and nothing is ever done. Definitely a miss for me...overrated.
I have had three kids at this school and I currently have two that are still there. I love this school! We have had a few issues with teachers but once I either addressed it with the teacher directly or the administration the issues were always taken seriously and addressed properly. The main thing is that my kids absolutely love the school and that means more than anything,.
As you can tell by the reviews this school is hit or miss. You either get the great teachers or the horrible ones. It has both.
Have 3 kids who attended and impressed with the quality of teachers Cheatham Hill attracts. Good, fair administration. Well run school!
I have 2 kids there presently. Good teachers who are always accesible. Good administration. My kids are in the gifted track(Target). Target teaches Logic, Reasoning, etc. You need to be proficient in these skills to do well on standardized tests. As a gifted parent I know this well. Lots of extracurricular programs. Great summer camp. Great PTA. Cheatham Hill is a great school. The private schools in the area aren't worth the money.
Not impressed with their ability to create a challenging and mentally stimulating environment. Not impressed with the gifted program testing procedures. Kindergarten teachers were great. Now my daughter is in first grade and the teacher seems more like she is there to collect a paycheck so she can go to grad school. My student is at the top of her class in all subjects and they are unwilling to challenge her more than the rest of the children. She can hold a full blown challenging conversation with any adult and she reads chapter books while the rest of the kids are still reading Thomas the Train and Dr. Seuss. She is losing interest and I fear that if this trend continues by the time reaches fifth grade she will be completely unmotivated to do well at school. I can only hope that someone will notice these trends and begin to change them. Unfortunately I am now leaning towards private school where there is incentive for the teachers to do better.
Have had two daughters attend Cheatham Hill - excellent teachers and administrators. Both children have done very well in the transition from elementary school. Very, very active parents in PTA, "room moms and dads" and after school functions. We are still close personal friends with teachers that are some of the best in Georgia.
My daughter started there in K-5 and is now in the 5th grade and loves it! I am very impressed with the teachers, administration, ASP, and the leadership. From my observation (and personal delight) the teahers and staff there also act like 'mother hens' to our children by watching them closely to keep them safe. That's very important to me. Each year my daughter cries at years end when having to leave her teacher and that speaks tons to me. Her teachers take the time to communicate with me all during the year; not just at PT Conference time on how she is doing and that is paramount to me. They are structured, encouraging, very knowledgable, patient, and kind to my daughter. She has thrived there and hates to leave to go to middle school next year. That says a lot to me as a parent.
Not great and not impressed with the administrators. Definitely falling below the standard.
Very comfortable with child there. Excelent PTA and children activities like Drama, Chorus, Art Club, Recorder Enssamble, Oddysey of the Mind, an Chess Club
Cheatham Hill is an excellent school. There are many educational and fun activities for the students. Parents and families are encouraged to be involved. We have been very impressed with our childrens' teachers. Our boys have been encouraged by the staff and administration at Cheatham Hill to always do their best. They both love Cheatham Hill and have such respect for their teachers and the principals. I can not say enough good things about this school!
While I was very happy with the individual teachers my child was exposed to the overall administration was lacking in many areas. I feel that the administration did only things that were convenient and did not take into consideration the effect that it would have on the student population. I found them unprofessional and very slow in making necessary changes that would benefit our child.
My daughter started here last year for kindergarten and is now in First Grade. Class sizes are small. They recognize good students and really encourage reading. They don't appear to be 'teaching to the test'. Overall we are very impressed with the school and Ms. Davis.
This is a very good school. Strong leadership with the principle. Great teachers who create value as the students and standards define value. Keep it up!
We are so pleased with Cheatham Hill. Every child is encouraged and challenged to to do their very best. The parental involvement is incredible. There are always lots of moms, dads or grandparents volunteering or visiting the school. And of course the teachers are wonderful! Their commitment and dedication are unmatched. We have 4 children who have all attended Cheatham Hill and we have been very satisfied.
As a parent and teacher, I am very pleased with Cheatham Hill Elementary!
As a parent of a first-grader as well as a Realtor in the area, I truly believe it is a great school. I have recently purchased a new home and staying in Cheatham Hill was extremely important to me. Belinda May is a fabulous pricipal and truly has the kids' best interest at heart. The front office staff is a great bunch as well. My son is in speech and I am thrilled with the progress he has made. I have 2 teachers in my current neighborhood who are teachers and they both have enjoyed the teaching environment at the school. To me, the diversity in the school gives our children an accurate portrait of what our world is becoming. I hear clients ask about going to East Cobb because the schools are 'better'. I have to disagree; Cheatham Hill is the place to be! Jan J. Hair
