My son attended this school and had great controversy with the special education department. I had to involve administration often to get the proper instruction. Overall the sports program was adequate. he coaches were dedicated but really needed support from the town in order to convince the school board to fix very poor condition of the stadium lockers, stadium seating and the field.

My son attends HCHS, he just completed his first year. He is doing really well in school.. maintaining A's and B's. He has great teachers with the exception of one teacher. Personally, I think that "one" teacher is ready to retire and burnt out. I have the teachers email address and always hear back from them in a timely manner. I am very upfront with his teachers and with him of what is expected of him as a student. I always get positive reviews of my son from his teachers. They tell me that he is a respectful student and pays attention in class. Children's behavior is the classroom is based upon what the parents are teaching them at home. I am a parent that is 100% involved in my son's education, and he has set the bar high for himself because he realizes the value of an education. It always hasn't been this easy, in middle school he gave me a run,, but he has did a 360 degree turn around.. and that I am grateful for. GREAT SCHOOL!

I honestly feel as though those who do not attend the school shouldn't pass judgement. Henry County High School is one of the best high schools you can attend. The teachers are awesome and I do not feel as though that a little few apples in the bunch should ruin the reputation of the school. I love my high school and I'm doing quite well maintaining a 4.0 gpa. Those who want to learn they will definitely learn because education is very givin to those who put in the effort and show that they want it. There are students that slack off and do not do what they are suppose to but at the end of the day that is the parents' fault, not the school's!

I love this school because we have some of the greatest students with such brillant and inspiring minds around. Also, the level of athletic talent is outstanding. The things that most of these kids desire to do is limitless. A large majority of the teaching administration is so committed to helping as many of these kids as possible attend college and technical training programs as well as providing additional help to get scholarships, it's only one thing that we could use to help our great school is extra funding.

I am currently a sophomore at HCHS. I moved here from another state. The school in all is not to bad but personally i love school in this is the first time i actually beg my mom not to go to shool. To me the school is not challenging enough and suprisingly alot of students are still failing. I don;t like the principal (i think her name is Ms.Harrison) but i love the assistant principal Mr.Grant. even though we have a new school that does not change our learning ability

I went to HCHS for my first two years of high school, and then i was transfered over to Ola high when it opened. Most of the Faculty were good, some i will admit did not do as well as they should have. People keep writing about how there is no communication with the school, it is your responsibility to keep in touch with the school. The school has several hundred students and cannot possibly keep in contact with every students parents. It is your responsablilty as a parent to make sure you child is going to school and doing their work, and it is your responsability to set rules about homework and studying. If you want communication with the school you need to get up and do something about it.You can also keep in touch with all of your childs teachers via email.

The teachers at the average grade level are too tolerant of bad behavior in the classroom and often it is displine over teaching The College Prep courses are challanging and I have found rewarding for one of my daughters, the curriculum is too easy for the students in average classes for my other daughter in the same grade and they need to step up their game to compete nationally

It seems the parent involvement is very low at this school. I was wondering do we have a PTA program. My daughter is a first year student (Junior) and I have notice that there is not incentive for parents to get involved. How can we change this. We need to try to get an active PTA. Where is the academic programs to reward the students for going the extra mile to try to have an incentive for others to follow? I am willing to work in any capacity. I have never been asked nor do I know who to ask.

I am currently a freshamn at Henry County and this school isn't as bad as most of you are making it out to be. It may be old, but that doesn't stop the kids from getting a great education. The teachers are wonderful and they DO CARE. The school is very orderly and maintained, overall it's a great school to go to.

I am not a parent, but I am a member of the graduating class of 2001 from Henry County High School. For those of you who feel that your child did not benefit from an education at my high school should probably be discussing that issue with your child and a tutor rather than venting your angst against the faculty at HCHS. I took time off from school after I graduated and I just recently started college. I finished my first semester of college with a 4.0--that's what a Henry County education can do. The mere suggestion that Henry County High School does not provide a good education is proposterous.

I have moved from New York in August of 2005 and was a sophomore at Hchs in 2005 and will be attending Ola! I think overall I guess I had a good experience at this school. This is the first year I passed al my classes with A'S and B'S! I think my teachers were great and they really helped alot!

I do not know where people get off on making Henry County High School look awful. I am one who believes that a building does not provide an education, the teachers inside the building do. Seems to me that the ones who have responded negatively here have probably had a bad experience and trying to get back by saying inappropriate and untrue comments. My children have attended HCHS and have benefitted by being provided a well rounded education. Thanks for all that you do Henry County High. I would recommend this school over others that are practically brand new simply because the staff and administration do care and are not worried about keeping up with the Jones'!

There is no parent teacher commucation.. If your child Is not at school Maybe they will call Maybe they wont...If your child is failing a class, No one tries to get in touch with the parent, you can find out progress of your child by going on Edline Which some not all teachers dont even bother to update. you can email your child's teacher. But not one has ever emailed me back. I dont think the teachers really know how to use the schools program. A computer class is offered that the school does not tell you about it is not even on the list as classes to choose from. The teachers dont care about students. Limited afterschool programs. Just not a good school.

I graduated from HCHS in 2003. I have excelled in college and have benefitted from the great education I recieved at HCHS, whereas other students from HCHS and near by schools have flunked out. Education is truely what you make of it. The school has undergone many changes since I left, but most of them are for the better.

My daughter attended Henry County High School for 3 years. It is one of the worst high schools I have ever seen. The teachers are unknowledgeable about what they teach and the students are ignorant. My daughter used to attend Eagles Landing High, which is a MUCH BETTER school. She was fond of her teachers and learned a lot. Eagles Landing has good Honors and AP teachers.

I am a senior at hchs, and i even think that we have the worst school possible. About 90% of our 'teachers' act like they don't care about us. Alot of the teachers will assign us work, they'll lose it, and blame it on us. We do have some decent teachers, and to them, i'm grateful for their caring effort to help us. The school is literally falling apart. Almost everyday we have some part of the school breaking or falling down, and no one will try to fix it. Also, we have he worst lunches i have ever tried. I get sick everytime i eat their lunch. I can't wait to get out of there. So take my advice, do not go to this school, you'll regret it!

The worst I have seen in terms of leadership and quality of administrative staff. This county is continually growing and becoming diverse and the school is either ignoring or simply doesn't care about the entire student body. The building is old and the mentality is ancient. The counselors and administation= 'good ol' boy network'..Step up to the plate and become as diverse as the county and the ever-changing student body. -Parent of an ex-Henry High School Student

With all do respect, this school is one of the worst, if not the worst, that I have ever seen. The school has no order, no spirit and above all no control of what goes on. The students do not care and the teachers show very little effort in caring. Last year it was close to loosing its credit. I would advice you that if you are moving in the area, that you would consider other schools surrounding this one.

I think this school does a great job. The teachers here really care and do a great job with the students that come to Henry. Henry is a city school and do not have the luxury of all the other schools. It is the oldest in the county and I think it does a great changing attitudes of the students that come. They do an incredible job.

I graduated from this school myself, and I don't think it was horrible! I think Henry County High is a fairly decent school, the school system was fair, some of the teachers on the other hand, may not have done the best job they could do. I was an A student and graduated with honors, and I can account for 3 occasions when my parents had to get involved with a few board meetings due to a few unfair teachers, but in the end, our wonderful school board takes care of our school very nicely. I would send my children there in the future.

This school is the worst I have ever seen. Students are in trailers more than in a building. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

The teachers are not the best but the counselors are the absolute worst of any school system I've seen. Communication is an awful disaster, and the children are the ones who are losing out on the opportunities taken away from them by this lack of competence.
