This is a great school. The teachers are very committed to teaching especially life skills. My son's teacher, Mrs. Crerie, is the best 3rd\4th grade teacher I know. Overall the school is great for a public school.

I love East Lake Elementary! My son went here, he is now at Union Grove High. My daughter is currently at East Lake in the 2nd grade. I love the communication that I receive from her teacher, as well as, the parent teacher communication I received when my son attended there!

My daughter attended East Lake in Kindergarten and 1st Grade (years beginning in 2003 and 2004). She did well academically, however I was concerned with the lack of diversity at the school. I often wondered why the only people that looked like her at the school were either pushing a broom or wearing a hair net. I moved her into a significantly smaller private school, not 3 miles away. This school has a much greater committment to diversity. I moved to this area because of the wonderful reputation for the schools in the district (East Lake Elementary, Union Grove Middle, & Union Grove High). I have been disappointed in all schools.

It has been a roller coaster ride. The Saxon Phonics were implemented then stopped in the first few weeks. Percentiles are given with no sign of remediation or reinforcement theory. In other words percentiles appear to intimidate the parents into doing the teaching. My child said she had no reading groups all year only choral reading and in large groups. There was no evidence on day one hundred of any people measuring in the hallways, only one class. There are no Math nights or reading nights. The parent communication is very confusing at times with not enough information given. The principal and assistant are unprofessional at times in talking to parents. My childs SST report was written up majorly biased.

Eastlake is a great place to learn. The teachers are excited about what they do. The parents are heavily involved and the administation listens and cares. The students are excited about learning and take great pride in their school. Eastlake bands together to accomplish great things - we were the number 1 school in giving to Relay for Life last year (over $16,000) using student led fund-raising. I could think of no better place for my children than Eastlake Elementary.
