My child started school here in 4th grade comming out of private school an she has done great. The teachers here are awsome an dedicated to teaching something alot of teachers other places have forgotten. I love this school an theirs no second guessing here only perfection.
My children began atteneding Flippen in 1st grade after a terrible inner city kindergarden experience. He was very behind but his teachers went above the call of duty to work with him and never made him or me feel as though he was 'slow'. Two years later is excelling in 2nd grade! The teachers and office staff are great! I have found that is one of the most diverse schools in the district which was very important to me. The offer tons of extra help for students and were not quick to label my son. My kindergarder began this year and is doing very well, his teacher is great! School offers tons of incenetives, programs, activities and extra help! I love Flippen and dread having to move to another area.
This school has awesome friendly and helpful staff and teachers. The education is outstanding. They acknowledge and encourage good values. This has been a great start for my son!!!!
Great school overall all. The teachers show concern. I wish the criteria to be in the gifted program would include classroom performance.
Overall, we are very happy with Flippen. We have a son in 1st grade and one in third, and both of their teachers were very good. They also had art, music, and PE classes once a week, which we have not had in other places we have lived. Two areas that could be improved: the after school program and the selection for the talented and gifted program. The after school program could offer a lot more than it does, such as music and languages, even if it's done at additional cost to the parents. The testing for talented and gifted should not just be a bunch a standardized tests, but should also include classroom performance. Both of these programs are run by the county, which allows the school to claim it's not responsible, but I believe they should offer input to the county, and that they should
it really is a great school for your child to attend but switch schools befor middle and high school because there is no comparison between the schools. But a great elementary school
I have had nothing but the best things to say about this school, my son is in 3rd grade and every teacher has shown such genuine love and concern and compassion for my son. The office staff is incredible and so friendly. I have had nothing but great things to say about the lunch staff as well, I eat frequently with my son and they have always been very friendly to not just me but the kids as well, It is a new policy for all of Henry county that if you are not paid up to date at lunch for more than 5 days (Im not sure on the days) your child will not be allowed to eat breakfast and will recieve a sandwich for lunch, perhaps that is why the student mentioned on the other post were denied breakfast. I love this school and the entire staff!
My child has attended Flippen since third grade. Third grade and fourth grade were great! This year, my child is in fifth grade and its probably not the entire school but the level of instruction has decreased greatly. No engaging activities, confusing instructions, and a nasty attutude. Even though third grade and fourth grade were ok, the cafeteria workers have been very incompotent. Students have denied breakfast with no prior parent contact. Trays are taken out of students' hands.
The Principal, Teachers, and the entire Staff show a genuine concern for our kids. It's refreshing to see a Principal who leads by example...and a staff that follows.
Ms. Harness, the 1st grade teacher, is great! It is very apparent she has a genuine concern and love for each of her students!
