St. George's is a wonderful school! My three children have all attended St. George's and the decision to send them there has been one of the best we have ever made. The family-like environment is one of the best parts of the school, but it is also academically challenging and will prepare each student for success in life. The administration and staff are continually focused on creating a place where each child can reach his/her potential. St. George's has been a huge part of the success my children are now experiencing in high school and their high school teachers often ask them where they went to school before. Can't recommend highly enough!
St. George s Episcopal School feels like family. The school consists of teachers and wonderful families who care about the education, spiritual development, and success of each child. I have had the opportunity for all three of my children to attend St. George s, and they all have received an excellent education. Also, my children received the opportunity to participate in many activities that would have been most likely unobtainable in public school. Two of my children are now attending college, and their closest friends are still the ones they made at St. George s. St. George s is truly an amazing school!
I believe that SGES has been an asset and positive experience for my children. I agree with the previous post which said the school fosters feelings that it is "cool to be smart" and "cool to be kind". I see middle school children who not only know kindergartners, but also interact with them in positive ways. I don't think that type of kindness exists in the public school systems. The curriculum has proven to be challenging and given my child who has graduated to High School an education where they have been ready to progress into advanced classes in High School. Great school and great experience!
I think that SGES offers the most sound educational experience in the Spalding, Lamar, Butts, and Pike County areas! The teachers are especially caring, dedicated, and well-trained.
I absolutely agree with the review submitted on May 7, 2009. My child received a sound early childhood education at SGES, but will spend the rest of his life getting over the social bullying that is standard procedure at this school.
My child attended SGES from K-8th grade. I have watched SGES grow into a solid educational institution with the most qualified and gifted staff and administration I have ever seen. I am a public school educator and chose SGES for the solid, college-prep curriculum as well as the foundation the school is setting academically, morally, and spiritually. The administration, faculty and staff knew my child. They cared about what was going on in their lives and made an effort each day to help them become the best that they could be. The environment is nurturing, yet challenging. The children are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones knowing someone would be there to pick them up when they fell. The environment is set up so it was 'cool to be smart' and 'cool to be kind'. My child was extremely prepared for high school and has excelled in all areas.
I feel that there is now continuity on both the Board and faculty. I have watched this school over the years, prior to being a parent, confront some serious growing pains. I could not be happier with the current administration and also the Church representation. I feel that the previous posters complaint about preferential treatment of teachers' children is very possible. However, knowing both students and teachers at other public and especially private institutions I do not feel that it is more prevalent than other schools. The curriculum is superior to any of the public institutions nearby. It is comparable to most private institutions in the area. That is until you approach the better Atlanta private schools. Our time at the school has been very pleasant and our child has enjoyed the school too!
I would have to agree with the first review submitted by a parent. Our experience wasn't good at this school either. Too many mother's of the children that attend the school work there. There has been a lack of leadership. Some of the faculty is truely great but there seems to be a negative atmosphere throughout the school. Some of the faculty in the past has been there for the wrong reasons and lead the school by monetary contributions rather than students earning awards.
My child has attended other well known private schools in the area and I feel that finally we have found the school he should have been in all along. St. George's has treated my child with nothing but respect and kindness and the staff have all been very kind and helpful to me as well. The teachers seem to be very well qualified with many holding a Master's Degree in their field. The curriculum far surpasses that of public school, it is very in-depth and engaging. My child's education is very important to me and I feel that for the money I spend I am finally getting a great education for my child and it is worth every penny.
Not a good school. Very unfair to it's students and has poor leadership and test scores. The school has had a new headmaster every two years over the last ten years. They do not treat all the children equally. Things are not done correctly. Really an unhealthy environment.
