Oops, wrong Benton Elementary. Please disregard. Was rating another Benton Elementary in another state and somehow hit this one by accident. Don't know how to fix it. Can't report my own post without joining and don't want to join. Thank you!
My child had a tremendous experience at Benton Elementary. From an academic standpoint, he was challenged, and benefitted from the interdisciplinary approach used by the teachers. He participated in numerous activities and sports programs, with being led by tremendous teacher/coaches.Mrs Shields and the teachers are wonderful. They welcome every morning all the students by name showing how much they care about them and how important is each of them. (special recognition to Mrs Sorrow and Mrs Pope ) I think they really try their best to make a it a great school..
VERY POOR SYSTEM IN PLAY FOR TEACHERS AND PRINCIPAL, VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE FROM THE TEACHERS, AFFECTING THE STUDENTS GRADES NOT VERY GOOD LEADER SHIP AT ALL WITH PRINCIPAL MRS.SHIELDS
I love Benton!! The teachers there are wonderful. Everyone in the school from the Principal to the custodians make your child feel like they are apart of the family. My Father, my Brother, my Nephew, my oldest daugther and I all attened Benton and my youngest daughter attends Benton now. We are all proud to be a Benton Bulldog! The teachers there love the kids and go above and beyond to get them ready for the big world of middle school. Benton is a great place to learn and grow!!! Starliah Waldrup
My grandson attends Benton.I have seen reports come home. They let partents come to class anytime.Loads of PTO activities.Ms.Hamilton PK lets us know if there are behavior problems and an injuries that happen(how and what was done for injury). The biggest thing I don't understand is why the child is in the school furthest from home when there is a school a mile away.
Other than solid academics, extra-curri activities are available, such as the GEM club and after-school tutoring. My son loves going to school. When you walk in the door, you can't help feel the geniune love for children. Small class size has been wonderful. I highly reccomend this school!
I currently have a child at this school and am not please at all with the performance of the staff. With the exception of Mrs. Love, who is wonderful, the teachers have proved incompetent at best. My opinion is just that, an opinion, but when the teachers give no feedback about the progress of your child until it's too late then I have to put some responsibility on the teacher as well. There were many policies that were supposed to be implemented this year that I have not seen come to fruition. Although my husband and his father before him have both attended Benton I will be removing my child and sending him to private school. -Amanda Cooke
I attended Benton School beginning 50 years ago, my son and daughter attended school at Benton for a couple of years, and now my grandson has attended Pre-K and kindergarten at Benton. The school is a wonderful place for children to learn. It is a small school and teachers and administrators seem to know every child. There is a lot of motivation for the children to excel, especially in language arts. Sherry Lee
