Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Overall Meadowcreek high is actually a great school, yes it is no competition to a school such as Brookwood, Duluth, or Collins Hill high school, but it has pretty good students. People look down on Meadowcreek and call it "Ghettocreek" but in truth whats so bad about it? Meadowcreek does have a history of having gangs but there is hardly any of that now or none. I personally like Meadowcreek and i give it a 4 out of 5 as personal rate

Administration let two children walk out of their school knowingly and did not inform their parents. By the time these parents got out of work, they were the ones who called the school asking for their children in concern. Unfortunately the faculty and staff at Meadowcreek were not as willing to help them out as they should have. Instead every single staff and faculty member played the blame game and were of no help to the parents. It's really sad when you put so much trust into an educational system and the employees and they could care less about the well being of a child.

Meadowcreek High School is a unique place. I have 2 sons that attended so I was involved from 2003 - 2012. And I definitely saw it go through changes and growing pains. Allow me to start with ANY school is as good as the parents involved. This area is full of rental properties due to repeated redistricting of another School district. I know of at least 3 event that place mire permanent residents in that district while drawing around all the rental apartments to stay with Meadowcreek. In general the Teachers care but there is just so much they can do and still teach. There have been plenty of successful student with high SAT scores and scholarships. The sports opportunities are there but the money to be really awesome isn't. Neither of my sons wanted to go to another school so we stayed with Meadowcreek. I became involved with the PTSA, The Band Booster, The Football Team and the Baseball team. Unfortunately you seem to see the same few parents at all the events. There isn't enough parental involvement to make this school as successful as some of the other schools. I was at the school so many times, several of the staff actually thought I worked there.

Before my freshman year I was scared to go to this school because of its "bad reputation" but when I started school its wasn't at all how i thought it was! Its not the school that is bad like the teachers but some students just don't care about their education and make it seem that way. Yes there are fights but what school doesn't have them? Im in AP classes and i dont really see the difference. There are also many good sports, like Track, which I'm in(:

I am a recent former student, on my first day within three hours of returning to mhs. I was paneled.i was being harrased by an a/p named dr. harris I was on my way to my next class. When another ap named Mr.Berliner asked me to take my hat off, fine, I walked alway to do so everything was ok. Until dr.harris steps in and calls me back then ask Mr.Berliner "does he need a referal?" Mr.Berliner says "well he's on rule 12" dr.harris cuts him of with excitement saying "oh lets get him out " I ask cant you just let me go its my first day back im not trying get in trouble" dr.harris says " no we can't (my name) youre getting a referal"yes I do get mad but I wouldnt have got mad as I did if dr.harris wasnt bullying me he instigated the problem by calling the school officer with tazer in hand now I scream you better not taze me like a animal.I had it with the situation and walk away dr.harris screams "you better find the exit" it got to the point where I called my p.o for help because dr.harris "banned" me without calling my mom I had to walk home 2 hours im diabetic thats risky and illegal mhs itself great school they just need to fire dr.harris before he gets mhs sued or shut down

I worked at MHS for seven years under three different principals. I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Every teacher at MHS, past and present, are truly dedicated to the care and education of their students. I have read a lot of these posts and I can believe that they are all true. Every word from describing the way the girls dress, students cursing, the violent fights, the poor administration, to teachers and administration going out of their way, to children graduating and going to college. I have been teaching for 15 years and you will find all of these things at any given school on any given day. MHS does have its unusual share of problems that have arisen from the stresses originate from behind the scene. There is a lot of pressure on teachers, success rates, and truth in grading. These things become more stressful when of culture of apathy has been allowed to seed, root, and grow. A culture of enabling that unintentionally grew out of an effort to nuture. These things happen. Now, GCPS is worki g to correct these issues. Give MHS a try, a hope, and your prayers. Do this for all GCPS schools. They all need your hope and support.

Meadowcreek High School H-O-R-R-B-L-E Part 2 * I just wanted to complete my issue with Meadowcreek Highschool. A star is really far too much for a fair rating .There was a teacher that really went out of her way to help us find where we needed to go at registration. She actually walked with us and was nice the entire time and then ask if everything was ok. (ONE) .This is a place where my child will be getting an education and growth is to prosper I would like to know that the teachers are going to GET UP and be the STANDARD.When we walked through the doors of the school staff should have been there to welcome new and returning students and answer ANY question they needed to know. The school is there FOR students. Students may be part of the problem at this particular school but I can't help but to think if it's more so the staff. Impressions are everything and this school has made a lasting one on me.If I could rate this school without a star I surely would.

Meadowcreek is an amazing school! Before I came here, I atteneded 2 other high schools, and I never spoke with my counselers or thought about college, untill I came here to Meadowcreek. I attended many college trips and met some awesome people. The teachers are amazing, they really care about their students' academics. And also a great thing is that diversity is celebrated here. Don't believe the bad things people say. I loved my one year here at Meadowcreek! Go class of 2012!

I am currently a sophmore at meadowcreek and I can honestly say that this is an excellent school. The teachers here care about us as people and want us to achieve greatness. It is one of the most diverse schools in georgia. I am in ap and gifted classes and I believe that I am being properly prepared for college and beyond. You can ask anyone who goes here, if you look past the bad reputation that we got LONG AGO, and have an open mind, you will love this amazing school.

Meadowcreek cares about the success of my son and work to get him thier We have just moved from a school that was suppose to be a "better" school, only to find out they did not care about my child. Now my son is taking 4 AP classes and has accepted 5 college scholarships so far. GO Mustangs!

Hello my family and I just moved to the Norcross area from New Albany Indiana. My daughter will be entering the 9th Grade this year and we are in district for Meadow Creek. I will say that i have not heard any good reviews about this school and i am a little weary of enrolling her there. She is an honor student with straight A's and I want to continue that momentum. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been recently with this school? Is it as bad as everyone is making it out to be?

This is truly one of the worst 'parent-friendly' schools my daughter has ever had to attend. Being in the military we had to move around so communication with the school has always been important. It took the school FOREVER to get my Parent Portal access up and there has NEVER been a time when I called the schools primary number and not gotten its voicemail. What????!!! Every time I have called, I have had to dial no less than 9 different numbers before I actually spoke to a live person. Seriously?? What if we had an emergency?? The notification letters we got announcing different school events either showed up after the events had already taken place or just a day or two before the event leaving us scrambling trying to get things in order. One day I took off of work at 11am attend a college Financial aid mtg only to arrive and be told it was postponed I'm not taking anything away from the teachers, they have a hard job but if this is what the parents have to deal with (when we try to be involved) then I can only imagine what the kids have to deal with. I'm glad this is my child's last year dealing with this school system. Meadowcreek Staff, You have to do better.

My son moved from Chicago, Illinois to Georgia and is currently attending Meadowcreek H.S. He is very unhappy with the fact that the teachers, they don't seem to take a personal interest in the student's education, neither do they interact with them so that they feel like humans. I have not received good reports about the principal of the school. I wish that people placed in these positions actually cared and would attempt to make every effort to assist these young, impressionable people to becoming successful adults.

I attended Meadowcreek for a year and personally it has its pros and cons like every school. yes, it has a reputation but only because new freshman and some sophomores Want to keep it. so attending this school around your junior/senior year would be better. but i do think that it teaches one thing DIVERSITY. they have a foreign exchange program and generally the students and teachers welcome other nationalities. while as most say other wise. the school ways itself are confusing and unorganized in my opinion. and there are good students and bad students of course. but its whether or not your child has the mindset to choose wisely. if you choose wrong then yes, your headed for trouble. but if you are careful i am sure they will do just fine.

I graduated from Meadowcreek this year and this is a GREAT school. The teachers are all very nice and helpful. Whether the student has a personal problem or an academic problem the teachers and administration is always there to help. The schools reputation is ancient, ask any student that goes there or went there, this high school is top notch! If you want your child to fall in love with learning and find their passion in life I strongly recommend sending them to Meadowcreek, I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

Meadowcreek is the real world and i dont think some people can handle that. I've been to the best and worst schools and meadowcreek is neither but its a good school. It has great programs and classes, great teachers, and a great administration. Some people dont like Meadocreek because they are afraid of the great diversity . Seriously, people aren't killing eachother in the hallways, theres not a drug problem, and the teachers aren't just here for a pay check. Its a high school like high schools elsewhere. Meadowcreek gives great oppurtunities to those aren't afraid to take them. I enjoyed Meadowcreek and its a great school to send your children as long as your children try.

Meadowcreek isn't all that bad. Although they could improve at teacher and principal leadership and on top of that, there could be more options. Teachers lack their job and the principal is hires the wrong people. There could be more options in the foreign language area and they could improve in just about everything they do. They're doing good, but there are some parts where they could do better. The building could get fixed. It's only considered a bad school because it's probably located at the wrong area. But I think bad students are located everywhere. Crimes occur all over the world also. So why is Meadowcreek rated a 3? I'm not sure, but I feel that this school isn't all that bad.

My daughter moved in with me from Alabama and she has always been unhappy with all the schools she has attended. When I brought her to Meadowcreek I feared it would be miserable for her.... But I soon realized that she loves it! She respects the teachers, and on her first week there, all the administrators and teachers welcomed her. She loves it here, she tells me everyday that she is so glad she didnt have to go to parkview =)

Well I am currently a freshman at Meadowcreek and I must say that despite the bad reputation, this is actually a world class school. It's one of the (if not) most diverse schools in Georgia, there's about 100 or so different races here, all of which brings a variety of languaes, culture, and experience to this school. The teachers here are very respectful and helping, some are more qualified than others. The safety of the students is average, but it is otherwise safer than most schools. Th bell schedual is also very organized. Overall, Meadowcreek High School is an excellent school.

I graduated from Meadowcreek in 2005. I attended this school for all four years. It was a school where students of many cultures and ethnicities came together to learn. Teachers, too, were of diverse backgrounds. However, following the end of 2001 school year, the school changed principals and soon after that most of the administration as well. Many programs were disintegrated, some classes cancelled, new rules inforced. Much funding was diverted from education toward improving sports programs. Many teachers and students, unhappy with the new administration, left for other schools in the county. It saddened me much to see them go and to see our school fall apart. New teachers, with little experience in diverse backgrounds, were introduced to the school's colorful environment. It's a sad thing, what happened.

At every school in any part of the world, you'll have some that love the school & others that dislike the school, and the only way to know why is to find out yourself. MHS is a great school. I was a student there all four years, and never had a problem. Every teacher I had each year always worked with the students to the best of their ability. Some parents will disagree with this, but you really have to take a step back and analyze why some people can love a teacher/school and some can completely dislike a teacher/school. It can't only be the teacher/school that's wrong, it could also be the student, even the parent. So those who've been disappointed with MHS, on my behalf, I apologize. I had great teachers, great after school activites, and met and still have a great diversity of friends, with life-long memories.

Meadowcreek is a very good school. Diversity is great and people should not be afraid of it. Teachers at this school actually care about you succeding in life. The principal at this school is the best. She actually paid for some juniors to go to summer school so they can graduate on time. What other principal would do that? The athletic director was named best athletic director in the county. At meadowcreek, everybody will learn something new. Whether is good or bad. I learned good thing along the way. Overall, meadowcreek is the best.

First of all may I say that parents need to understand that Meadowcreek HS shows students real life, diversed people and no one should feel intimidated by this. The students and staff are very friendly, humble people. I beleive Meadowcreek has been looked down on because of its diversity. Sad to say but honest truth is that many people do not support these students because of their ethnic background. My beleif is that these students have alot of potential and many teachers at Meadowcreek HS make sure to encourage them to help them cope with real life issues, they teach you that your education is your main priority. I was a student at Meadowcreek HS and I can honestly say I appreciate what my teachers did for me, they encouraged and supported me all the way. I want to specially thank Mr.Bender, Mr. Moore, Mr. Hulk.

Meadowcreek HS, is not in itself a bad school. The Administration needs to be replaced. There are students in this school that are being overlooked and almost disguarded. The staff is clueless. My child will not be attending this school this year. Parents please take a close look at the Staff, most are not at this school to teach and/or help your child they are merely bringing home a paycheck. Hopefully there will be a major change in the staff and administrators of Meadowcreek. Someone has got to start caring about the kids that attend this 'School'.

Meadowcreek HS is an example of the real world filled with a wonderfully diverse population. One of the major concerns though is the staff population. According to the current superintendent of schools, should mirror the student population. At Meadowcreek HS, it does not, not even close. In a school where the majority of the population is Hispanic, the staff is predominantly African American. As this is being written, schedules are frantically being worked on as usual with class placements completely unorganized for it's students, especially the seniors. Students are being pushed into AP classes for statistics' sake rather than because they will pass them.

August 12, 2005
My child has attended Meadowcreek and is in his final year. Having been in this cluster all of his life and it has prepared him for the 'real world' which is not black and white but a rainbow as found in Meadowcreek. Teachers for the most part have been superior with a few exceptions, specifically last year where one teacher had a strange system of awarding extra credit points if the student attended sports events selected by the teacher and that did not include all sports. This created an unfair advantage for students who were unable to attend those sport events, especially if they were participating in other school related events which were not part of the 'extra credit program'. Grades should be earned by school work and effort, not by a teacher's creative use of extra credit points (which were also rewarded as favors done for the teacher as well).

I was a teacher and parent at this school. This school has the potential of being great. The administration may not be the best, but they have good intentions. It's great that cultures are celebrated but what is missing is a uniting factor. The parents, with the exception of a few, are unsupportive, uninvolved, and it is obvious they do not stress education as a value in their homes. Many teachers are great, but I fear that many have been hired based on race and not on competence. I don t care what race my child s teacher is, they just need to know what they are doing. There are schools out there (I've taught in them) where teachers plan together because they choose to. The problem with how this school is trying to implement collaborative planning is they re trying to force it in a methodical way.

'I'm so glad i go to Meadowcreek' is what the band plays at the football games and I am glad that i go to Meadowcreek. Meadowcreek is full of different people that will widen your mind on different things. We are the only high school in Gwinnett county that has a high stepping band and excellent drill team. The fine arts department is like a mini fine arts college with the all the talented teachers and students there. people who work their or the students know everybody and speak to each other. Meadowcreek is more of a big family. The teachers guide the students to strive for their best. if you give Meadowcreek two more years you will see a major turn around in academics and athletics.

Meadowcreek High School should close and start again and maybe this time it should start with an administration that has the backbone to make the school better. There is a better than 60% turnover rate among teachers at this school and what is even worse since the current principal has been installed they have yet to make Annual Yearly Progress. There is a problem at this school and I would highly advise that parents do not send their children to a place where no one wants to be. The school is diverse and you see a lot of culture but until someone truly is ready to enhance the student experience and stop being 'toms' to the system then change will not be evident.

My name is Helene Brooks-Lucas and I am an employee at Meadowcreek High School. My true comment about Meadowcreek High School would be that it is a wonderful school full of nourishing teachers rich in knowledge of the subjects they teach and love for the children who attend there. I would never advise any parent to send their child elsewhere. My daughter attended Meadowcreek for her senior year and she had a wonderful experience. Again let me emphasize that I think Meadowcreek High School is an outstanding educational institution for any student to get a quality education.

As a student of Meadowcreek High, I love going back every day looking foward to something new.It is a diverse school, and teaches you to survive in the real world. You can realy connect with the teaches, students and administraters. From expierience, many teachers, and administraters can be funny and a wonderful conversationist but when it comes to businees they are very serious. overall Meadowcreek is good high school and has help me on my quest to a successful career. >Chris<

Meadowcreek High School is indeed a special place but not because of the administration, but because of the children. The athletic department is getting better but it is in need of a real athletic director, not just a fundraiser. Diversity is the most outstanding thing about the school, yet the administration will not let the teachers be diverse. The teacher turnover is a major concern and the blame is the administration. As long as the current staff is in place, please think before you send your child to the school but if you like the diverse methods of the teachers then go ahead. Thank you.

Meadowcreek is an excellent school and has an outstanding principal very dedicated and committed to providing students the best education and high school experience ever! The principal is very visible (major change!) and knows many students by name. She's making major changes and often people don't like change. However, if changes are major improvements and students are first priority - then change is good. The school is richly culturally-diversed, and in order to provide the best education for all students and to receive support from the community, change has to occur. Great things are occurring at Meadowcreek, from academics to athletics. We have improved test scores, a superior science olympiad team, an outstanding band and chorus, and other great programs. With a strong leader and the support and collaboration of faculty/staff, students, parents, and the community, the school is on its' way to becoming a school of excellence in all areas!

Meadowcreek Highschool is a wonderful school. The area itself is a very diverse place, the students there have a chance to experience so many different people from different cultures. This to me really does enhance the highschool experience. The fine arts program is one of the best in GA; their band and chorus are continually ranked superior each year. I admit that there is a problem with the administration and the principal. But I believe it will be resolved very soon.
