I was formerly employed at Atkinson County High School as a teacher. The students are predominantly those whose parents could not afford or did not choose to send them to private school. They are generally well-behaved, but I do not believe that they are better or worse than children in most small community schools. The school administrators insist on paddling the students who misbehave. There are many other tales to tell, but I think that is enough to get the point across. Also, if you are an employee and can play politics and kiss the backsides of the right people and don't mind the fact that locals will always get preference over others, you will do well here. Do not be from the wrong family or place. Do not expect certain individuals would ever send their own children to this school. Do not expect people to do and say things that won't benefit them or theirs. Do not do these things and you will do well. The last and most important rule I can give you is never cross the wrong people or administrators. Look at how this school compares on the Georgia Public Policy Foundation website: ranked 304 out of 357 in the state, 100% poverty, 52% pass the EOCT, 72% graduate. You decide.

I don't know who that other teacher that gave tje school a bad review, but they must have had a chip embedded in their shoulder, not just on it. I have recently accepted a teaching position at ATCO high, and I can tell you it is the best school I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. The staff is supportive, they are equipping their classrooms for the 21st century, and the kids are the most well-behaved students I have ever encountered EVER. I have taught in other schools and felt like I was in cell block D. Atkinson County HIgh and MIddle is a great school and you would be hard pressed to find a better teaching environment and staff.

im a previous student from atco! i left last semester to come to the horrible state of california, i wish i didnt come out here because i met really down home people at that school there are really good teachers there and the principle and staff are really good they ask you how you are doin and really caring people. there are not many activities there besides football and baseball. but i know if you need anything and in dire need they will help you. they will also call your parents and let them know how you are progressing along in school trust me i know from first hand experience. they have a really good atmosphere for the students and the staff . i highly recomend this school for any student who wants a good education .

I was a former teacher who quit that hell hole because of the conditions and the rude and inconsiderate staff who underappreciated all the students and did not give them the proper attention they all deserved. PLEASE! do not enroll your student at Atkinson County High School!!! It is not worth jepordizing your childs health and mind. The mind is a beautiful thing to waste and that is all that this school is doing, WAISTING MINDS!!!

Atkinson County High is a great school. The small atmosphere allows faculty to know almost every single student on a first and last name basis. The after school activities may be limited, but that is expected in such a small school. Maybe the gang problem isn't the schools. Maybe it is parents letting kids undermind their leaders. I would be more than willing to send my two boys to ATCO High when they come to that level in their education.

I believe Atco High is a very good school for any child that wants to learn. The atmosphere there is positive, friendly, and homey. If a child wants to learn, they can very much do so here. Music and art are not available here but most sports are. It is a small town school, so all sports and extracurricular activities are not included. Parental involvement is very much accounted for in most of the children who attend. There are some parents whose participation could be improved, but overall parents opinions are taken to heart. This school is great because of its size and quality of teachers.

The is not to much that I can say good about Atkinaon County HIgh. They do not have enought sports to keep the students active. Atkinson High had a Principal there who is not willing to listen to every child point and view. The School is not very supportive with nothing except Football and Baseball. Other than any other organiztion going on there is not important or it doesn't make enough money. There are many hispanic students at ACHS who want a soccor team. Let me correct that not only Hispanic but also Blacks and white children. They complain about kids being parts of gangs but, they yet don't have any extra curricular activies for these kids to do. Atkinson County High needs a new Administation. One woh will care and listen to what the youth have to say!
