We moved from Ohio expecting that the school system would not be as good; however, we have been pleasantly surprised. The school is very good and the community is very safe. They need a program for gifted kids. My child has been placed in the most advanced reading groups within her class etc, however, they do not have a dedicated class with kids that are learning at an accelerated pace.
I am not thrilled with the school system in the area. Your kid cannot miss school without a dr. or dds. note. So if they are vomiting, you must get a note. They place kids by timed tests. They do not have regular parent teacher conferences, you must schedule that on your own. They can receive in school suspension for the smallest offenses. I don't really know anything about the teacher since they keep parents out of the school unless they volunteer. siblings are not allowed to come, so if you have younger kids, you cannot volunteer. The classes are over crowded.
I'm very happy with RH Elementary and have no desire to send my child to a private school. They also have a very strong group of volunteers who help out the teachers.
The staff is excellent! I have never met such wonderful and caring people before. We love this school!
I really like the school, and my daughter likes it as well. The new building is nice. As far as public schools I wouldn't have my child at any other school besides here.
The new school building is beautifully design. The teachers all seem to care deeply for the children and their education. My granddaughter enjoys the extra activities that the school offers and shares with the families. Kudos!
My child has been going to RH schools since prek and she is enterin 3rd grade this year. She will be attending RHES in the new building. Her teachers have been very good all the way through. I do agree that the schools teach to the CRCT test too much and it is very stressful for my daughter. Also I think that most days there is too much homework. The school nurse at RHES and the front office staff are friendly. The after school program is wonderful. I do wish that parents were allowed in the classroom more often. I understand the need for security but in RH schools the supposed security measures are really just window dressing and serve to not allow parents access to their children. A true security threat would find a way in the school.
We moved here 6 months ago from Savannah-Chatham County schools. This school has been wonderful! I email with my son's teacher all the time!! There is a weekly 'What's Up' newsletter sent home. I visit the school monthly - the office staff is nice and freindly and the school nurse is wonderful. This truly is a Great School!
It's really interesting to see some of the responses, and then you look at the test scores. In comparison to other schools, RHES is doing a really good job in preparing these children. I recently moved and hate the fact that the schools in my area can't even touch the quality of RHES's curriculum.
I am so dissapointed in this school. Teachers dont communicate well with parents, and the homework is out of control. The sports and activities are superb.
We moved here from Franklin TN 6 months ago, and were so disappointed that we took the kids out and I am now home schooling. I hope we move soon just for the kids sake. There were things my children were seeing and hearing that no child should be aware of at their young age.
We arrived to R.H., GA last year and they did absolutely nothing for accelerated children. They think and act they are something special here and are defensive when asked to work beyond the average. They don't honor good students. My daughter is in the SEEK program which has been our savior this year. We cannot wait to get out of this place.
I am very disappointed with the Richmond Hill elementary schools! I have only been a resident here for 5 months. During that time, I have had many unsuccessful attempts trying to become more involved in my childs school experience. Unneccessary discipline appears more important than teaching and safety.
Parent/teacher communcation poor. Conferences are not mandatory. No thinking outside of the box in this school...It's all about prepping the kids for the state exam. I've never seen anything like this. I feel a lot gets shuffled under the rug here; and I know many others in this area feel the same way. It's truly saddening.
We moved here from Richmond VA and are VERY pleased with the Richmond Hill Schools. I know one thing for sure, they are way ahead of the VA school system. My children are more challenged now and much happier. The staff is dong an excellent job. THANKS!
We moved here for the schools, i did lots of research online about the schools in the area and this one was by far the best. Coming from a School close to Boston Ma where education was suppose to be the best, I find that the schools here are ahead in Academics. The things my sons are learning here are ahead of their peers in MA. It is a wonderful school and i am glad i choose to send them here.
A nightmare. This is one of those schools where time stands still - in a bad way. The county would rather protect the principal and some long time teachers than make the changes this school requires to meet 2005 national curriculum standards. Moving to richmond hill for the schools?? Stop and really look into it. The schools look good by georgia standards, georgia standards! these standards haven't been updated in a decade or better as told to me by the state's own department of education!
