Eastside is a good school with some outstanding teachers. However, there are some real problems that no one seems qualifed to address and solve. A lack of a substantive parent organization, educational field trips and challenging curriculum severely affect the school's ability to encourage excellence in learning. The school board seems focused merely on meeting standards. Parents that want to be involved and help by volunteering in the school are not utilized and feel discouraged. I don't merely want to know what my child is doing, I want to be involved. A teacher should never respond to a request for additional homework with a suggestion to homeschool the student; the student moved to another district instead.

This is a great school. The teachers are very good with the children and attentive to their needs. There isn't a great variety as far as extra classes. I'd really like to see more choices for our children, such as languages (spanish, french) being taught from elementary up. I felt very involved and informed while my child attended this school. They hold workshops and different parent/child activities regularly.
