My school is wonderful. It's a reflection of the real world! I love our diverse population and innovative thinking. Great principal, excellent counselors, awesome teachers, and fantastic staff. It's the whole package.

Thanks to principal Melinda Springman this school has evolved into a dynamic, multi-cultural comprehensive middle school with academics suited for all levels of ability. My children and I are both thrilled with our experience here!

Shocked this school only has a "7" rating. This must be a lasting result of former administration ? Elkins is a fabulous school and my child and his/her friends are doing really well here. We took our child out of private school and put him here. Academically, this school is much more challenging than our previous middle school.

My daughter is currently an 8th Grade student at Elkins Pointe. She started at EPMS last year. I have been so impressed by the teachers at this school. In all areas of her coursework, my daughter is challenged daily and encouraged to work through new ideas. I feel that Elkins has done an amazing job in preparing her for the rigors of high school coursework.

My daughter attended EPMS with most of her classes on grade level. She was not a TAG student, but nevertheless she was well prepared for RHS. Throughout her tenure at RHS she was enrolled in both Honors and AP classes. In her senior year at RHS she took all AP classes and received straight A's. I credit both EPMS and RHS for her success. She was accepted at every college she applied to. We know several former EPMS students who currently attend well regarded universities. When you hear a negative rumor about EPMS, please consider the source. Maybe they say there are drugs at EPMS because they need an excuse for why their child turned to drugs. Maybe they say there are trouble-makers at EPMS because their child is a trouble-maker. Maybe they say the education is sub-standard because their child isn't a strong student. Sometimes it is not the school but the student and the family that's to blame. Please visit EPMS. Take a tour. Interview the administration and the staff. Do your homework. Decide for yourself. The loudest voice in the room isn't always the most informed.

Huge disappointment. Academic standards are very low and the care for children is just not there. A mediocre school for those who have no other options.

Elkins Pointe is improving by leaps and bounds. My child just finished 6th grade TAG-level. Although the school does not have as many resources and technology as some other schools, and not enough parents are involved with the school (in my opinion), the new principal (Melinda Springman) is doing a great job with what she has available. I think she is making a big impact and I love the changes being implemented. Before you make a decision based on a handful of reviews from 5 years ago, please visit the school and talk to the current staff and parents. You will like what you hear.

If you have any other options for your child to attend a different school, take it! From an academic perspective having come from a school where children were expected to do their best, we are sorely disappointed in the low standards set by the teachers and the number of busy-work projects that offer very little in the way of learning. We had been told in our child was in TAG classes, it is a good school. From our experience with our child in all TAG classes, it is not true. From an order and discipline perspective, the administration is more concerned with improving the school's reputation by any means necessary than with addressing the needs of middle school children and responding appropriately in various situations.

There are no "gangs" at EPMS. I hear this all the time from concerned parents, and parents of children from other Middle Schools. The staff is very attentive, and the principal communicates any discipline issues before rumors start. We love it here!

Elkins Pointe is a great school! My child has attended here for one and a half years and though moving to a new school during the school year can be scary, everyone made her transition a great experience. We have had nothing but positive experiences in both TAG classes and on grade level classes. I have also been very pleased in the range of courses and the extracurricular activities and clubs available, including opportunity to receive high school credits in 8th grade. The teachers and administrators sincerely care about all of their students and go above and beyond to help them excel. We have been very pleased with our decision to move to this school and support and recommend it 100%! Furthermore, we have had the opportunity to attend top notch schools around the country that were ranked higher and I truly feel this school should have a much higher ranking than what is shown here.

I am a rising sixth grader with all TAG classes and that gives me little idea or experience of the apparent stress, overloading of homework, and theft at EPMS, but when my school attended the fifth grade trip to see the middle school; I was very impressed. EPMS is clean, the discipline is strict, and the education is above average for TAG and On-Level. Children themselves are the problem. Older students might and probably WILL take advantage of the younger kids, but that`s a problem you can fight through and forget. Long, long story short- In my eyes, EPMS is NOT a step back, but a stomp forward.

We have one son who graduated from EPMS and is now at Roswell High. He really progressed between the transition of elementary school and middle school and ultimately thrived in 7th and 8th grade at EPMS. He enjoyed the classes, teachers and activities. Our 6th grade son attends EPMS now and enjoys it very much. We like the adminsitration and teachers. Most of teachers keep you advised of the weekly events, projects and homework. Overall more parents shoul be involved in the school.

ok well i have a son at this school! And he says he likes it but that the advance math moves way to fast for him! The only thing i dont like about the school is how ridiculously expensive the lunch is! That can be cheaper but every thing else is good! It is a good school!

Well this my first year of middle school and every thing is going well! But the only thing i dont like is their advanced math! it is just really hard to keep up with and it is hard! It also moves very fast! And the good quality lunches cost lots of money! The teachers are nice too but some need to retire because they are not doing a very good job of teaching the classes! But over all the school is great. :)

I have had 3 children attend this school, and they have done well in high school and college. Middle school is different, and I think the Elkins Pointe staff does a great job helping students prepare for high school. The office staff is friendly, and the administration is available to help parents navigate through those tricky years.

This school does a horrible job of keeping the students in line, and doing what they are supposed to do. The teachers, some are less that standard.

This is a great school. Two of my kids attend, one is going into her 3rd year and the other his 2nd. We have had nothing but positive experiences in both TAG classes and on grade level classes. Students are placed appropriately and are challenged according to their abilities. The teachers and administrators care about the students both academically and socially. Communications between teahcers and parents is excellent. Administrators are available to speak to and respond quickly to concerns. The staff creates a fun and caring environment. The music program is top notch. MY kids have flourished at this school!

The comment about lack of discipline and followthrough is absolutely true. I have a daughter that was in the TAG (gifted) program there and she thrived. My son that followed her, not so much. He's not in TAG and the lack of structure in the curriculum, discipline and followthrough by some teachers has allowed him to slip through the cracks and become lazy. The classes cater more to lower abilities causing other students to become bored, restless and disinterested. I will say that there are SOME fabulous teachers but when their hands are tied by overriding decisions on the department or school level, even their effectiveness is not maximized. Theft is another rampant problem at this school and little is done when something is stolen. A felony in the 'real' world is dismissed as 'we'll see what we can do about it' and little is done. Beware of this school.

I am so pleased with Elkins Pointe. All of the rumors are unfounded and should be ignored. My daughter is a 7th grader and has done very well. The teachers are great. They not only care about their education, but also their emotional and social well being.

My child goes to this school and we got problem with how the office handle's teacher student problems, and it seems the office backs up the teachers and that is very unfair and very un profissional, and i think if parents stands for their kids this would never happen, as for my experiance i feel the school needs to be investigated to protect our kids's rights.

I have a timid 6th grader, and he has really blossomed at EPMS. He came from Mimosa, so he was used to the cultural diveristy and is doing so well at EPMS that I am amazed! Keep up the good work EPMS, our kids will be ready for the big school (Roswell High) and the protected environment kids will be a little lost. This school is a big plus in my book!

Gangs and drugs? This apparently has been a rumer for quite some time. My family moved here 3 years ago and I have 2 sons that have attended. I heard so much about the 'troubles' at Elkins and never had any experience with it actually being true. Amazing how one or two incidents can grow into many as the story is passed along. It is true that we must be careful in making any choices for our kids, but I don't see this school as a negative step in your childs education.

EMPS may be a good school for advanced students, but be forewarned that if your child is not in the upper tier, you will struggle. There is little discipline and follow through in the classes that are not rated 'AP'. It is imperative that parents attend class with their student to experience the classroom for themselves. Also, drugs and gangs are a problem. Please be careful if you choose this school.

My 8th grader has thrived in this school. The diverse mix of students works well and the teachers have been excellent. They communicate constantly and seem to really care about the kids. We never saw evidence of gangs or drugs - they might have been there - aren't they everywhere? But we never encountered any trouble - just a lot a great kids and teachers.

Before my eldest who in now graduating, begun attending Elkins I heard stories of gangs and drugs being there. However, we did not experience one iota of this and were extremely pleased with the quality of education. The teachers are among the most caring I have ever seen and Ms. Bankston, the principal runs a tight ship. My daughter is now going on to all honors classes in high school due to her education at Elkins. Thanks Elkins!

I am very impressed with this school. Two of my childen have attended Elkins Pointe and I have one entering 6th grade in the fall. My children's teachers have been caring and communicative and have done an excellent job at preparing children for a highly competitive high school. The extracurricular activities are numerous and all of the music programs are outstanding. My daughter studies Japanese and traveled with her class to Japan. This school offers many opportunities for children to explore areas outside of Roswell. Elkins Pointe is diverse and high performing. This middle school is helping develop successful, world citizens. My hat is off to the administration, teachers, and the staff.

I love Elkins Pointe for my daughter. She's a pretty smart kid, but the staff at school have really challenged her. The've noticed her as an individual, and not just as a stundent. She's made many trustworthy friends, and she has learned many valuble lessons, both good and bad. It's a public school, so things are not perfect, but for my child and any other child like mine, it's a great learning experince.

Elkins Pointe is a good school.. not perfect, but very good. As a parent, my input is highly valued and the principal and assistant principals are very available and helpful. The 'Talented And Gifted' program is very good in helping the kids get ready for High School. The school seems to be safe and has adults actively monitoring students. A police officer is on duty whenever there are people present (including after school). There is a good mix of ethnicity here. DO NOT come here looking for a 'lily-white', homogenous school. Thank goodness it doesn't exist here!! There are MANY CULTURES at Elkins Pointe and there is an overall feeling of respect among the students. My son is a 8th grader and has had great experiences and has learned a lot. There are also students with handicaps in the school system who are well cared for.

I went to this school and had a terrible experience.I was being pushed around every day by teachers and students. Very few of the teachers cared about the students. There are many hispanic and african american gangs. Our family moved to get away from this horrible school. I would never send any kid their.
