The first word that comes to mind when I think of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School...is FAMILY. We have just completed our second year at SPA, & I'm even more convinced now, that we made the best choice in choosing SPA! Our teachers are the best out there...their dedication & their love they show to our children & our school is immeasurable. Every day they challenge our children to be the best they can be. The parent involvement at SPA speaks volumes about how important our SPA FAMILY is. My child has blossomed while at SPA...one who started out as a shy child has come into her own...our SPA FAMILY has helped her to achieve that. Our academics at SPA is by far some of the best in Savannah...proven recently by our Terra Nova Scores! We LOVE St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School...and would never hesitate in HIGHLY recommending SPA to other families...just so that they can feel the sense of FAMILY that we have at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School!!!

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School is a treasured place in our family. We have had two children graduate from SPA who are absolutely thriving in high school and our third child will graduate soon! We love the fact that God is in every classroom at St. Peter's and that the children are taught daily to treat others with care and respect. Each and every student has a prayer partner to lean on and this creates friendships throughout the upper and lower school. It's neat to sometimes see 8th graders holding hands with 4 year olds as they walk along! The teachers at St. Peter's not only challenge their students academically, but they love them unconditionally, this a perfect combination! Our academics are top in the city, proven by recent Terra Nova Scores, and I know that my children are successful students because of our longstanding and dedicated faculty. We love St. Peter the Apostle! http://school.saintpetertheapostle.com/

Saint Peter the Apostle is an amazing school. The faculty and staff are dedicated and wonderful teachers who truly care about the total growth of the students, not just in academics. There is a real sense of community at the school...several of the teachers went to schoo at St. Peter's and now have their children as well. The school is getting a brand new playground for next year. The class sizes are small which is great! They have a up-to-date Computer Lab and student computers in each classroom. They also have a fantastic athletics programs that offers sports for all age levels.

My eight year-old daughter just completed her first year at St. Peter's this May. She had previously been attending public schools within Savannah, and while she had wonderful teachers there, she had a hard time meeting friends. In addition, she lacked a noticeable amount of character and religious education. I am going on my fifth year teaching 9th grade English at one of the local feeder high schools for the Savannah Catholic schools, and my choice of St. Peter's for my child was not only personal but also professional. I knew from past experience that SPA had a dedicated staff, small class sizes, and an appreciable amount of parental involvement. Because I review all of the incoming 9th grade placement tests, I also based my decision that students who have been educated at SPA generally have a significantly stronger foundation in formal & creative writing, reading comprehension, and verbal and language skills. The eighth grade Language Arts teacher, along with their lower and middle school teachers, have obviously done a stellar job in building these essential skills. The 2014 valedictorian and salutatorian were both graduates of SPA, a clear indication of academic strength.

St. Peter's is an excellent school! I send my child there because it is the best Catholic school in Savannah. We have top of the line technology in all of the classroom, wonderful teachers, many of whom hold Mastes degrees and an environment that is nurturing. I love St. Peter's and so does my child. It should have a 5 star rating!

The teachers at St.Peter's are the schools biggest asset, and have truly cared about my children's education. The computer lab is state of the art, and the athletic program is second to none. All of this and the Catholic traditions and values that are reinforced daily, make St. Peter's the only choice for my family.

This school has a triple threat: outstanding academics, phenomenal athletics, and fabulous safety protocols. My son is in his second year at St. Peters and I would recommend this school to anyone...and I do! I can't wait until my other son is old enough to attend. My son is five years old and comes home each day trying to speak Spanish, attempting complex mathematical ideas (for his age), and exhausted from gym class. He loves this school! The principal, Sister Roberta, is doing tremendous work and is very 'in touch' with the kids. My son sees her everyday and we often get class work that she has graded and signed! With the modern security system in place, I feel secure knowing that my child is being protected. The other parents at St. Peters are wonderful. The teachers are caring and supportive. I just can't say enough about this school!

Initially, my oldest child began at St. Peter's for Middle School. We loved it so much, we pulled our other two out of their schools and also started them at St. Peter's. They have been here for several years now, and we couldn't be happier. I truly feel that St. Peter's is an extension of our family, and that they are cared for and loved very much. The teachers are wonderful, dedicated teachers and the school is technologically advanced with Smart boards in every classroom, an amazing new computer lab, Spanish beginning in PreK, and Music and Arts as well. The sports program is very competitve (SPAL Champs this year in football and volleyball) and is offered in various forms beginning at the Pre-k level. And of course, most importantly, the Christian atmosphere and religious education is everything my husband and I want for our boys. Fantastic school!

I cannot think of a better place for my children to learn and grow as individuals. St. Peters is a wonderful school with a motivated and enthusiastic administration. We've found the teaching staff to be highly degreed and they care very deeply about my children's education by consistently pushing them to be better students. It's nice to drop my kids off at school and not be constantly worried about their education, safety, and well being. What a great family school and Parish! We love it.

I have been a St. Peter's parent for three years now, and I am very pleased, not only with the education my children get, but also with the religious instruction and the school's sense of community. Many of the parents are former St. Peter's students, so there's a strong sense of tradition at the school as well as a welcoming atmosphere for new families. Another benefit is that the school is a little off the beaten path, so it's not in a high traffic area. Getting kids to and from school is pretty safe.

My child has attended Pre-K, K, and 1st grade at St. Peter the Apostle School. I am thrilled with what she brings home from school. Her interest and skill in reading, writing and mathematics has grown well beyond what I've seen in her peers from other area schools. She also explores the arts and sciences. 'Respect' is a theme stressed in this school. She equates goodness and godliness. God is included in all school activities. Her teachers truely care about her. Parents are always welcome in school and class activities.

I am the parent of a St. Peter's graduate and have a child still at St. Peter's. Both children have benefited from the nurturing environment of the school. The teachers know the children and keep up with them from the time they enter Pre-K until after they graduate from high school. I feel that they are very prepared for high school no matter where they go. The school is like family, the teachers really care, and the atmosphere is like no other. I do not go to church there and did not go to school there yet I have never felt snubbed by anyone. I have always gotten a feeling of being welcomed and my children have loved the school!

I am a tenured veteran at St. Peter the Apostle School to say the least. I have been through many administrative and teacher changes in my years as a SPA parent. Change is a part of life, but the one thing that has not changed is my positive opinion of St. Peter. I tell others it is a complete package - a strong education, a family-oriented school, a fair environment where the rules must be followed, and a Catholic school giving glory to God as the utmost principle. My oldest child graduated from SPA and was extremely prepared for high school. My two current students are constantly challenged to perform their best academically, and the weekly posting of grades and the parent communication envelope help parents stay informed of their children's progress. I am, and have always been, 110% satisfied with St. Peter.

My three children have transferred from the Archdiocese of Washington to St. Peter the Apostle in Savannah. We were extremely surprised to learn that St. Peter was so far ahead scholastically. Although we have had to work extra hard, we are very pleased with the curriculum. Additionally, we have been warmly welcomed into the St. Peter family from the Parrish priests to the school nurse and everyone in between. Their superlative educational standards, generosity and their sincere dedication to help Gods children is unrivaled.

I have had 4 children attend St. Peter's over the past 16 years. My youngest child is currently enrolled there. The current faculty and staff are the best that I have seen over this entire period. The computer classes have really 'taken off' this year. My child is learning Excel and other programs that will benefit her now and in high school. I have had both boys and girls attend SPA. I have had the 'A' student and the 'needy' student. All have received an excellent education at St. Peter's and were well prepared for high school. All of my children participated in the sports program. Only in some of the girls' sports, did I encounter coaching problems. There are a few coaches who do play their friends' children before they will play the talented, athletic children. Academically, St. Peter's is the 'tops.'

The one word I think of when I think of St. Peters is 'family'. If you want a school with high standards for education, Christian values, and respect for one another, this is the place you want to be. It is truely a place you feel comfortable leaving your child, similar to leaving your child at a family member's house. The faculty and administration care about each child and are willing to do what it takes for them to succeed in and out of the classroom. All of this is done on a strong Catholic foundation.

With the new principal (who has already turned the school around in a most positive way in a very short period of time), I been more than thrilled with the leadership, teacher quality, and family-like environment at this school. My boys have never loved school, and had been at the alledgedly the most prestigous school in Savannah for several years. However, since attending St. Peter's, they look forward to going each day and relish in the opportunities to thrive, without the pressure of fitting to a general expectation to please the local news station and fundraising efforts. The boys always did well, but this is the first time I have seen them grow to their full potential. The individual attention to each of my boys' learning styles has been wonderful and I couldn't ask for more.

My children were enrolled at St. Peter's. I pulled them out and enrolled them elsewhere as the principal and former priest only cared about collecting the tuition and not the children's education. After almost 6 months now of playing catch-up for them to get to the grade level they are in, it is apparent that St. Peter's did a grave injustice to my kids. We have had to literally go into overdrive just for them to catch up academically with their peers at their new school. Just one example is: reading levels were 2 grades lower than their current grade and have already increased to grade level in just the 6 months since we left. St. Peter's used to have one of the best reputations in Savannah but is now literally the butt of jokes around the Catholic community.

I have children at St. Peter's and I could not be more satisfied. Most of the teachers have masters degrees and several years of experience. Having moved from out of state, and comparing the education to our last, excellent, private school, I can honestly say that I am getting my money's worth. Also, our last school had a policy of benching the children who were not the best athletes. St. Peter's coaching staff let everyone play. I have one athletically gifted child and one not so. They both play and have a great time! My children came in without knowing anyone and made good friends quickly. I couldn't be happier.

I think that St. Peter the Apostle School is the best Catholic School in Savannah. I feel that the new principle has made a huge impact on the school. we have found the school lacking in administration, the teachers also seem to be very clickish and lean towards the families who have been there a couple of generations or who donate alot of money, the priest has way to much influence over the school while the board has very little. kids seem to be picked on if not in the clicks, however my children did well there they did better when attending Marsh Point the local public magnet school, I only moved them due to grades not offered at marsh point above 5th. I still regret moving my younger child at the same time my older child moved. The sports teams are coached by volunteers who will play their chidren and their friends before better athletes and tend not to work with those they do not know the parents of.

My children have been at St. Peters for 5 years. They will not be returning next year as the class size is too large, there has been a high turnover rate among the teachers with many just out of school teachers coming in and the gossip among teachers with the labeling of children costing the kids emotionally and psychologically. With a young new principal there has not been the leadership that is needed. Some of the teachers go above and beyond to help the children but most want you to pay them personally to tutor your child. I think by paying for a private school education that it is obscene that the school allow teachers to compensate their own wallets by tutoring after school for an additional cost. It also bothers me that we do not know until the day before school how many students will be in each class.

May 18, 2007
St. Peter's has strong parent involvement but much of that is because it is necessary to supplement what the school is failing to do for our children. The school will allow up to 34 children per class. About half of the teachers are seasoned veterans but in the last few years there has been an extremely high turnover rate with the new teachers coming in with little or no experience. The school does have some very fine teachers but with class sizes being so large, they can only do so much. The 2006-07 school year brought us a new principal. She is a young, former teacher of the school who has not shown the leadership that is necessary. I feel St. Peter's fails in its mission to provide the best quality education.
