OPES is not a GREAT school. It is OK at best. The school is riddled with parent cliques as well as student cliques. Communiction is lacking, especially between teachers and parents. They, like other schools, teach to test. My children do not enjoy attending this school and have stated that they can't wait to move.

I do not get it. I read these reviews that say OPE is a great school. It is not. The lack of leadership and poor communication skills of the principal make for a very strained relationship with the parent population. Unless of course you are the PTA prez or part of the cliques of parents that are very, very inappropriate. This school is not about inclusion but exclusion. Very , very poor communication all around. Big issues with creative writing skills and ELA not being stressed. kids coming out going to middle school are poor writers and AWFUL spellers . Math is better but still weak. Science has improved but they spend ZERO time instructing the children in this vital area and social studies is no existant!!!!!!!!!!!! for example, Thanksgiving feast for kids and parents did nothing to even begin to educate the children on WHY we celebrate this holiday. Not even so much as a pilgrims hat on a kindergarten student! I do not know how they expect these kids to be ready for middle school. Culture here to to kiss the bum of the kids with well off parents in the PTA cliques and avoid and ignore all others.

Staff and teachers for the most part are dedicated. School administration is OK at best, not stellar. Communication seems to be a big issue. Very involved PTA parents need a lesson in appropriate behavior. Do yourself a favor and just get involved at the classroom level with your child's homeroom teacher. Spare yourself the pain of the PTA cliques. School's only real strength is in the gifted track.

My children have had a wonderful experience at OPES. The teachers are caring and the parents are very involved. The PTA is the best that I have experienced. My daughter got "exceeds expectations" in all of her CRCT scores and is well prepared for middle school next year.

Great school! Switched to a new math program last year... probably why last reviewer's child might have had a problem. My daughter has thrived at OPES. Her math CRCT score was in top 98 percent of the entire US! She's been on all A honor roll for 5 years. Thank you teachers and staff for your wonderful work!

This school is severly lacking in the Math department. My daughter was an 'A' student in Math and then failed the state test. I have since put her in private school here in Glynn county and I am much happier.

we love this school!! my daughter is in kindergarten and was very shy when we started here but now she has become a whole new person. the teachers and parents are everywhere! the school is always a buzz of activity and the enviroment is always positive.what i really love is that you can't get in or out of this school without being on a list provided by the parents and even then you go through a check-in process. i feel very safe sending my daughter here.

Excellent school! Parents are welcome and very involved here. My child made friends easily and loves her new school. I can't say enough about how wonderful the teachers and staff are.
