I'm surprised all of these ratings are so old, but WOW!! We love this school :) The teachers actually CARE and want your child to succeed. My child is now in the 2nd grade, and we've been at this school for 3yrs now. We love everyone. So glad we're in this district!!!! The principal is very personable and the parents are very involved with this school as well. The students are always smiling and happy. GREAT JOB COTTON INDIAN! GO COUGARS!
We heard this was a good school. Our daughter went to kindergarten and first grade there and had problems both years with bad teachers. The first year it was a new teacher who hopefully will improve when she has some experience. The second year she had a teacher who made fun of her and started all the kids on a "red light" every morning and if they were good enough they could move to yellow or green. Not very encouraging for 1st graders. We also experienced reverse discrimination from her. We had to go to the BOE over this problem before it was handled at school level. Even though they finally moved her to another room where she had a good teacher, she would say hi to her old one and the woman never spoke to her again. Pretty rude. Hopefully these issues will be addressed in the future in a more timely manner. Children should not have to fight for a good school experience.
I had two children attend this school. Thank goodness we were white and not black or jewish. Wow. Very prejudice in a covert way. Also, they do not recognize giftedness. I had to insist that they test my highly gifted child because the teacher did not recognize the signs that she was bored. The teacher recommended flunking a child with a 140 IQ! Glad we are no longer in GA.
I really like this school,i have had two speak with one of my sons teacher a few time,i really feel that my child in good hands. So thanks cotton indian.
I was hoping for some improvement. Parents, please work with your child as if s/he has no teacher. Gather the material that you need from the standards. My child's teacher does not have a high standard and this has caused some problems. Also, the school's administration has lowered their standards. I have seen so many mistakes that my child's teacher has made and it concerns me. This is the elementary level and children need to be taught correctly.
Very disappointed. I can honestly say that raising a college student and an A/B honor roll ele. student that there is no love at Cotton Indian ele.Too much gossip and now my student makes the D's list. Thanks alot
This is our first year at CIE and we love it. My daughter has adjusted well. I would like to see advance placement implemented or perhaps a Charter or Magnet school for Henry County. It is great.
my grandson is a first grader at your school and I hear nothing but good things. keep up the good work!
The school is great. The new principal has really kept up with everything going on. Parent-Teacher involement is great. Thank you Mrs.Pike you have done a wonderful job so far this year. Mrs. Waller you are also great. Thanks you Christie Carey
Cotton Indian is the best school . My child is new this year and he enjoyed it so much. The expectations are high and my child has improved a lot to meet those. The principal's leadership is the best I have seen. She is present and she cares for the children.
Cotton Indian boasts of being the best school, and it certainly is. More than anything, I can tell that my child is loved and cared for here. The administration and teachers have extremely high expectations, but they are always available to help the children reach their goals. I do love this school!
My child has been a student at CIE for 4 years and will be going to the middle school. The school is like a second home to her. She is sad to be leaving. Its nice this day and time to have a school that a child loves. Thanks to the staff.
I love Cotton Indian. The bar is set very high for these children. The principal, vice principal and counselor are hands on with the children. They are there to encourage them all the way. The principal even puts personal hand written notes in the childrens report card. This is also a school of deversity. I know we are blessed to have our kids at Cotton Indian. Not that test scores mean everything - but take a look at ours!
As a teacher myself, I am very happy that my son is a student at Cotton Indian Elementary! Mrs. Spicer is an outstanding principal and leads a team of wonderful, professional educators. The parents and community are also very supportive. It has been so great to see my son's enthusiasm and motivation about school increase, and I know Cotton Indian Elementary School is the reason why!
My son loves his teacher and his classmates. This county and the school is growing in number as well as diversity. It would be great to see more programs in the schools that address diversity issues. It would be great if the teachers and the principal took some type of diversity training to be able to teach the 'whole' child.
