The teachers here are very caring & work hard daily for the kids. I have had one child complete K - 5th grade at Sycamore and another child going into 2nd grade in the coming school year and overall I have been pleased with their education. There were a few problems we ran into but after bringing it to administration's attention it was addressed and taken care of. The Prinicipal and AP's are available for the parents and have a open door policy and have the kid's best interest at heart. Sycamore had a new principal this year who came and made some changes many of which I have to say were for the better for the school and the students. Sycamore also has a very active PTA who desires to help enrich the children's education there. This year they raised enough money to have swings installed on the playground and they also bought and paid for two mimeos for the school. And to address some of the parent's concerns below regarding PE...yes the kids are on a rotation for PE, however the kids have daily outdoor recess where the children are able to run, play and be physically active unless weather is not permitting. We are proud to be a part of the Sycamore Husky community!

I have had two children attend Sycamore Elementary and have been very happy with the teachers and staff there. They are dedicated to what is best for their students, and always striving for higher achievement. The principal has leadership training programs in place with both students and staff. Sycamore also has many opportunities for parental involvement with the PTA activities.

Sycamore Elementary School serves a small and very diverse community well. Our new principal is excellent and working hard to get everyone involved. Sycamore is the center of our community with dances, bingo night and the spring carnival. We also have Math and Science nights encouraging our kids to get excited about these subjects. And lots more. Each year the teachers go above and beyond to do more. Our Community program for example gets younger kids familiar with money and financial choices. Most of all I love the Sycamore Family that includes teachers, parents and corporate neighbors. This year everyone worked together to put in Swings!! I have had two children complete Sycamore and I have a 4th grader now.

We moved here last Aug. and my daughter was placed in Mrs. Acevedos class. I was lucky enough to be able to help out at the school and would have to say that it was a wonderful experience. All the teachers were so nice. We are moving back to Florida but I would definitely rate this a 5+ school. The PTA did alot for the school and I would also recommend joining that.

The scholl has the kindest teachers and my children really enjoy going there. The school also works with the Atlanta Falcons football players at some time during the year for a fundraiser and that usually brings out alot of people and the kids get a chance for pictures and autographs:)

We've been at Sycamore since it opened in 2003. i have 3 children attending and we love it. The teachers are wonderful and they continue to think outside the box on learning. My kids enjoy the school and the activities. The PTA is wonderful and active. They have provided a lot of parent involvement activities for parents. We may not be ranked #1 by some but I think we can compete with the best.

I have had a daughter at Sycamore for three years and our experience has been very good. Her teachers have been caring and thoughtful. And this year, she had the opportunity to be on the Dance Team - in the 3rd grade. I am not sure how many other elementary schools have that, so that was very nice. One negative was being in a trailer because of overcrowding, but when the new White Oak school opens, there should be no more trailers at Sycamore.

My daughter has attended Sycamore since Kindergarten, the inaugeral year the school opened. This is her last year there as a 5th grader. We have had nothing but positive experiences. She has had very supportive teachers who helped her worked through any academic weaknesses and challenged her in areas of strength. She has taken part in wonderful extra curricular activities. We have felt that the teachers and administration listened to any concerns and were always willing to help work through them!

My son has attended Sycamore Elem since the middle half of kindergarten and I have never felt so helpless. My experience has been that the teachers are very negative towards the children. I had to almost beg my son's first grade teacher to give him both positive and negative feedback instead of just giving negative feedback. You would have thought that I had two heads. I am very disappointed but am actively seeking a second job so that I can put my son into priviate school.

My daughter attended this school from K-2nd grade.I was not impressed with the teachers. She felt as if the teachers didn't like her. This has affected the way she thinks about school. She doesn't want to go back. I didn't get the feeling that the staff nor teachers were warm and caring. I spoke to the Asst. Principal and was not made to feel that we could work through the problem. I also didn't like that PE is every 6 weeks on a rotation. I believe children need to excercise daily.

We are new to this school, having come from a neighboring school and thus far, are very happy with the level of education for our 1st and 5th Grader. Both teachers are excellent and highly qualified. The school has many extra-curricular activities such as band, Strategy Games etc. The only thing that we are not that happy about, is that PE is only approx every six weeks, as the specials are done on weekly rotations.

I was very unhappy with the leadership (principal) at this school (school year 2005-2006). I have to wonder if the principal even likes children. Some of the rules were just plain ridiculous. The teachers however were wonderful. The extracurricular activities were fantastic. I didn't like the big land fill in the 'backyard' of the school- what were people thinking? Fortunately, I hear there is a new principal this year.
