We moved our oldest daughter from public school to SHCA as we wanted a greater sense of community, freedom in our faith and an improved child/teacher ratio. She is now in her second year with the school exceeding our expectations. The monetary investment into a private school was our greatest obstacle. Getting over the monetary hump took some serious planning, but we are VERY pleased with the trade-off. We have since enrolled our two other children.

Sugar Hill Christian Academy is FANTASTIC! My daughter has attended SHCA for the last 5 years. I remember being a bit nervous about my little girl starting Kindergarten and going to tour the public school near our home. I came home in tears! They were failing their basic state reading requirements, the teachers appeared miserable. I was told that they were considering not allowing the kids to say the Pledge of Allegiance because it might offend someone. I could not imagine leaving my daughter in a place that I did not feel was safe and not giving her the education she deserved. I found SHCA and WE LOVE IT! From the moment we walked in, it was one of the most loving environments we had ever been in. The kids kick start their day with Praise & Worship, Saying the Pledge of Allegiance, learning the National Anthem and Star Spangle Banner. The school is ACSI & SACS Accredited and provides an extremely high standard of education. All of the teachers are phenomenal & truly care about your childs education. SHCA just scored 99% for the IBTS testing! I love having a Christian School whose education far exceeds other schools and has a loving safe environment for my child.

I am so glad that we have chosen Sugar Hill Christian Academy for our son. The teachers are amazing. What I love the most is that the teachers are able and encouraged to adapt their teaching to each individual child. There are small classes and more individualized instruction. My child always looks forward to going to school and has even lamented on a weekend or snow day that he wishes he could go to school. While he is only in kindergarten, he has come home talking to me about what he has learned that I remember learning much later in my schooling. Great teachers, great staff, great parental involvement and I also like how they handle discipline there. Every day starts with praise and worship. This gets the kids on their feet and moving, which I feel also helps open up their minds to get them prepared to take on the day and learn new things. There is plenty of instruction time, but also time for recess, PE, arts and crafts, music and computer enrichment, this is something that is becoming so very rare in schools these days, so I am thankful that SHCA still has this time in place. Highly recommend this school!

I have two children at SHCA and we couldn't be happier! The teachers are all dedicated professionals who enjoy what they do and go above and beyond to create learning experiences for kids. The Christian atmosphere is very loving and welcoming. Small class sizes and a praise and worship time daily. SHCA has the best learning environment for kids!

I go to SHCA and it is amazing! The classes are made small so students get more help, the teachers will do anything to help you understand. Everyone who goes there is so kind and friendly. It is harder than most schools cause you don't just learn what you need to they go above and beyond to teach more. It is just an amazing school! I'm blessed to be able to go(:

We have had to move often with my husbands job and have had the opportunity for our children to experience several Christian schools along the way. We transferred to Sugar Hill Christian Academy in November/2009 with our two children. Since our arrival we have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the school's staff and students. My daughters were immediately accepted by the other students and made to feel welcomed. The teachers and staff have been so kind and loving to the girls. They made us feel immediately like we were part of one big happy, caring family. The academics are awesome and my girls love the extracurricular activities. Their teachers are amazing, the best we have had. They have a special way of integrating bible learning into every school subject. By far this has been the best Christian school overall that our children have ever attended. We feel truly blessed!

SHCA is a complete package for us--challenging academics, the emphasis on character education and spiritual development--all in a personal, family environment. There is such a sense of community here and my child is truly treated as an individual.

This is my childs second year and we love it. She is already reading above her age level. The classes are small with two teachers so she gets so much one on one attention. Even though the learning experience is advanced thay make it fun! They move to a different acitivity every 30 min. so that they are not sitting still for hours. I love this school for my daugher and my 5 year old will be starting next year. The teachers and students are loving and kind. I can't imagine a better way to protect my children from wordly influences and I feel greatful for the whole experience.

The school has exceeded our expectations in every way. The one on one attention to each child, the learning environments, the caring and nurturing from every aspect has been amazing. I feel blessed that God has created this venue for learning...I could not be more pleased with our childs learning and personal development that she has gained by being part of this Sugar Hill Christian Academy.

Unbelievable experience for my 2 children. They have been getting a fabulous education. In my opinion, much better than public schools. It is affordable. They have 'Praise and Worship' every morning. This is a great way for the children to 'get going'. It also provides a great cornerstone for living as, and growing into disciples of Christ. The staff is great and personable. They have a spacious library and an awesome computer lab. They also have computers in each classroom. They have after school Karate, guitar, drums, art, choir, etc. You definitely should call for a tour, before choosing!

We are so blessed to have found this school. They offer praise and worship every morning. The curriculum is far and above the public school. They have added 6th grade and will be adding 7th & 8th grade for the 2007-2008 year. The staff is wonderful and the cost is the best part. The school is part of Sugar Hill Methodist Church. They wanted to offer a Christian education to everyone. The enrollment is currently 175 (I think) and they are growing! If you live in the Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Buford, Braselton, Cumming or any other area close to North Gwinnett you need to look into this school. You will be glad you did!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
