This school had made huge gains in the last 6 years. It has made AYP the last two Years. The Teachers work really hard to motivate the students. This web page reports math CRCT scores in the mid 40s but on the 2006-2007 CRCT 64.5% met or exceeded the standard. Everyone at SMS seems to put the needs of the students first. Parent involvement could be better. Keep up the good work. Change is not always easy. Remember this school sits in a county with a 50% drop out rate, so not alot or importance placed on education. I also think this is an America's choice Demonstration school. One of only six in the country so they must be doing something right.

Location of our town is in one of the poorest counties in GA. There are disfunctional families which makes this tuff for our children to stay focused. SMS is has the America's Choice program for the past 3 years. My daughter has done well with this program being formerly home schooled.

Most of the teachers my children has had was fair, some were better than some though, it is a dress code school which helps on teasing and safety.
