Having watched LMES since the day it opened it doors, I've been very impressed with the overall school pride and teacher dedication. The school district is located in the poorest county in Northwest Georgia and must cater to students from very economically challenged backgrounds. Poverty tends to reduce the amount of attention paid to academics in the home and the teachers of LMES work extremely hard to overcome these challenges. New leadership in the front office has brought in even more energy and enthusiasm and the huge classroom, wide clean hallways, state of the art technology, and the number of teachers with Masters Degrees, all combine to make LMES the best option for 3-5 grade education in the county.

While there are some good teachers in this school, the bad ones are really perversely bad. The state school board needs to come in and run this school system, starting by posting the credentials (or lack thereof) of the current school board participants. I may be mistaken, but I believe not a single one of them has a higher education than high school. If you must move to Chattooga County, please register with the GBI website for sex offenders and check out your child's teachers relationships very closely. Then please be active in helping to turn this county around but be ready for a redneck hillbilly fight.

I love the family oriented staff and that each of my child's teachers keeps me informed of what's going on with her.
