This elementary school is the most up to date in the county. Every room has at least 4 computers and each also has a promethean board. The teachers are caring, and most have advanced degrees. We have our own track and are the only elem school in the county to hold our own Road Runner Road Race! The demographics this school has usually means that the school should struggle, just as far as numbers go, but that hasn't stopped our numbers at being some of the best in the county! I've been involved for years at this school, and I know first had the love the staff has for the children and our community.
My son has enjoyed his years at the school. He has had excellent teachers who are caring and creative. Most of the classrooms have several computers, laptops, and Promethean Boards. The school uses the Read With Sarah program that combines guided reading with flexible grouping. There are amazing teachers in this school who are highly qualified.
My child went to kindergarten at this school, and I absolutely love this school. The teachers and the staff overall were great. My son learned so much at this school and made wonderful friends. The staff is very caring and very polite. I was very impressed with the curriculum they had for the kindergarten class. Thank you so much to the staff at Glanton Hindsman for giving my son a wonderful education.
I'm a parent that currently has a 3rd grader here. We moved here from Gwinnett county schools -- what a huge difference! What a huge mistake! 3rd graders are not graded with letter grades (i.e., A,B,C,D,etc.) but with S,N, and U (satisfactory, needs improvement, and unsatisfactory). My child had been receiving letter grades since the 1st grade in Gwinnett. There are none of the structured reading programs, like SRA and RC where the kids are expected to pick their own reading level-approriate books and report on them. Her enthusiasm for learning has suffered tremendously, she's bored to death, and is not being challenged with the curriculum here. By the way, she is not deemed to be 'gifted', but she works really hard and loves to learn. She's not learned anything new here. A whole school year wasted. My child will not be attending Carroll County schools next year.
I have 1 child that attended this school from k-5th and another that has been there k-2nd and I have been very pleased with my childrens' success there. I feel that the building needs updating, but I am more concerned about the wonderful teachers there. I have found them to be very knowledgeable. The teachers always keep me well informed about my childrens' progress, The both of them have excelled there. Good job GHES.
The staff is caring and warm and serious about learning about each and every child---not just about learning in general! A bunch of new facilities make the school even better than it already was!
I love that school my daughters teachers are so kind and generous. They inform me on a weekly basis of my child's progress.
I was hesitant about this school originally based on appearance alone. Improvements have helped. My child has had three different teachers since the beginning of the school. I'm frustrated since here it is almost March and I'm just now being told she is behind schedule. Everyone has been nice but not very understanding of how stressful the teacher change has been
I do not like this school at all . I wish I could be more involved at my childs school. I work a a full timejob to make ends meet. I love child very much.I spend alot of time with him doing homework and everytime I walk in the door theydo not treat me like a parent. I get treated like a child! My child has been treated very unfairly by this school and so haveI.
This is the first year that my children have attended GHE. Coming from another county I can say that overall my children had an okay school year.I feel that the building should be demolished and re-built. It is extremely antiquated in appearance and it lacks many of the technological advancements found in other schools within the same county. I am a highly involved parent and I can see that if you are not that your child could suffer here. Both of my children had wonderful teachers who were committed to their academic success, however the administration leaves much to be desired. We are taking it on a year by year basis.
