School is ok. They are very busy glorifying the CRCTs at the school and seem to care less about providing a nurturing environment for children. It's a shame because it seems like there is potential at White Elementary. There are a few great teachers at this school, but the majority of them consider it a "job". Lacking in extra-curricular activities, and the PTO seems to be highly-driven to take money consistently from children and parents. I added it up and with the PTO costs and school costs, I averaged a good portion for tuition at a private school. In addition, the Board of Education doesn't really care for its children and behave contrary to what they say they are doing. We are moving out of district for our children's education.

My oldest son went to White Elementary from 2004-2010 and my youngest started in 2010, he is currently in 1st grade. I had known of the school long before I had children and did not have a great impression at the time. After the past seven years I am glad I did not change where my son went to school. The teachers are tough, but they are also patient and caring. Both my children are very outgoing, and they have always kept communication strong and kept them in line, yet it is clear that they have truly cared for my child. I look forward to the next five years as my second child progresses through this school.

I have had two children at this school, and we are moving districts. I've heard great things about White Elem., and agree the atmosphere is positive and organized, the Principal and Assistant Principal are involved and quick to resolve issues, and they care for their special needs children. But, they are lacking in extra-curricular activities (science, chess, math club, etc), there is too much rigidity in making the kids freeze while the announcements are on, and little follow through on enrolling your child in programs they suggest unless you are on top of it. They could improve on challenging children who are bored by utilizing academic programs offered in other elementary schools. It seems that there is very little parent involvement, and the school suffers as a result. It is hard to say anything negative because the staff are all caring and you get the home-town feel. But, the school doesn't really serve the high-achieving child.

My child has been at White since 2004 and I have been so blessed to have my child go there. The teachers are caring and give 110% effort. The school improves every year in how they run the school and the activites they offer. I have recommened this school to everyone I know and will continue to do so. I hope anyone who reads this will understand that there will always be differences of opinions, but this is the school for your child. I promise you will not be disappointed. If any of the staff of White reads this please know you are greatly appreciated!

I love White Elementary! My 1st and 3rd grader have attended the school since K! My children love the caring atmosphere, the challenge of learning, and the wonderful friends that we have made along the way! Being involved as a parent volunteer has enabled me to get involved with my children's education and I am able to see the school inside-out. My children love the staff. The staff is ready to take time & listen to improve my children's education and learning experience. Both of my children have excelled with state testing and look forward to return in August '08. Thanks White Elementary!

I cannot tell you the progress my 2 children have made at White Elementary School. It truly is all about the kids there. If you read the 2005 reviews it is evident that you can't please everyone...come and see the school for yourself. Speaking for my family....we couldn't be happier.

I currently have one child at White and one that attended in the past. The teachers are caring and show great concern for our children. It is in the culture of the faculty of the school. My children flourished at WES both acacemically and socially.

I would love it if the parents who wrote the comments back in 2005 about White could see our school now. The moral of our school is fantastic! Parents, staff and most importantly children seem to be coming together and creating a great community. There are great things happening in our school. This school is a new experience for anyone who comes here. I have had all types of people tell me how much they appreciate our teachers and our PTO! I am very proud of this little school. It has really come out of the box and up in the world since my child started 3 years ago. I look forward to many more great things at WES. Also, to those commenting on no extra curricular activities; we have a science club, a technology club and chorus. I think they are starting a spirit squad next year too!

White elementary is a great school from the teachers, administration and the parent involvment. The best part about it is my child feels loved. That is so important for the childrens confidence. Great education is a top priority for the school and I am amazed and so pleased with what my children have learned.

My son has been at White for 2 years now and I could not be happier! He has had the best teachers ever! I can't believe the material he is learning in 1st grade! I have to say I am very impressed with the teachers, office staff, administration, and everybody at White. Anytime I need something, I am helped promptly and with a smile! And my Goodness, check out their CRCT test scores for the past few years. With scores like that, you know quality education is going on in that building! Thanks White for everything you have done for my child!

I have twins who have been at White since kindergarten. This school has awesome parent involvement opportunities, wonderful teachers and a great administration. While I would love it if our school had some other programs, I honestly believe White Elementary is the best elementary in Bartow County. I also like the fact that the school is small enough to know people and is working hard to actually create a community among the parents. My kids feel secure there and do know many of the students and almost all of the teachers. The school is also completely based on a positive behavior structure, which is another plus.

I disagree with a good portion of the comments in this review. I know that some of these are old but I know that White Elamentary School is one of if not the best elementary in the county. My son has done nothing but suceed since we moved to White two years ago. Parent involvment was not good the first year we were there but that has all changed this year. We have a wonderful principal and a good PTO we no also have a PIC which I will say needs a little improvement but it's getting better. The school has been named a TITLE ONE school for two years in a row that in its self speaks wonders about our teachers and how they care about the students. Extracurricular activities need a little work but as long as parents get involved with there children anything is possible.

I don't understand the parents that have the negative comments. I am very happy with White, it is an awesome school. It says alot that we have been a Title One school for the 2nd year in a row.

My Child is a Fifth Grader and has been a student at White Elementary since Second Grade. Primary school should be challenging and the student should feel rewarded when they meet the challenges given them. On occassions I have felt that the the teachers are just making quota in their lessons.... but on some rare occassions after having discussions with my child, I have felt that the teachers do apply themselves and truly give of themselves. When i see my child having trouble with the way a teacher teaches an English lesson for example, I feel it is my job to help him through it, not to just complain about how it is being taught. My child has consistently improved in all categories and subjects while at White Elementary.... I also think that White Elementary has consistently improved each year while he has been there.

It's ok. It could be better. The teachers seemed overwhelmed and there aren't enough assistants to go around. I don't feel my child is getting the education he needs or deserves.

White Elementary has great opportunities for all students. My daughter transferred last year to White Elementary in the third grade. This is a very critical year for any child. She did exceptionally well. I want to thank her teachers and the administrative staff at White for the quality education she received. Due to their dedication her test scores were in the exceeds category. My daughter was in chorus and loved the opportunities provided by her music teacher. We are very satisfied parents of the America's Choice Program implemented this school year and the extra curricular activities provided. My daughter was given the choice of a private school education or public. She made a great choice last year and this year. White Elementary will continue to have my confidence and support in educating my children.

I think that White Elementary does the best that it can with the resources that they have. The teachers work very hard and offer parents what little time that they do have. This was a tough year due to the implementation of the Georgia Choice program. My kids teachers were helpful to me even though they were stressed learning the new program. I am sad to see the reviews for this wonderful school. Maybe my fellow parents need to stop and think about how hard it is to be a teacher before they pass judgement. I would recommend this school to any parent who likes small class sizes and dedicated teachers.

My child went to this school from K to a month into 2nd grade. We moved from the city and he now goes to Cloverleaf Elementary. I cannot begin to tell you the difference in him now. He has learned so much more at Cloverleaf compared to White. My son is also a Special Needs child and the special needs at White is nothing compared to Cloverleaf.I now live back in White but I applied for out of district to keep them at Cloverleaf.I would much rather drive them than send them on the bus to that school. Parent involvement is not good, therefore they cannot do alot. I hope I will never have to be involved in that school ever again.

This is the worst ran school I have ever seen in my life. This is my first year in the Bartow County School System and it will be my last. This school has NO good points nor do I have anything good to say about it! My question is Where did all the good teacher go?
—Submitted by a parent
White Elementary School is by far THE WORST school I have ever seen. The school is way below the educational levels of other elementary schools. Principal leadership She was very helpful after I called the Bartow County School Superintendent and complained of the harassment White Elem. was inflicting upon my child. Teacher quality Questionable at best. More concerned with money, not education. Extracurricular activities Poor character developing. They won't even allow all the children who want to sing be in the choir. Parent involvement Probably poor. The facualty has alienated a good majority of parents. Safety and discipline POOR. Playground has holes that cause children to fall. Warning...Your Child may not come home on the bus. If you have a sub-busdriver, your kindergartner can easily end up miles from your home. Overall quality POOR. The place smells like a cow patty literally.
