I am a current student at Word of Life. I think that it needs a lot more so that you are satisfied with what you pay. This year I have 3 classes where my teacher is a dvd. I did much better with a live teacher, so I do not appreciate this change. Many more things can be improved. But Word of Life is still a great school. I don't have a p.e. class or a college guidance. So that is something I would like to have changed. I don't want to put the school down because all of the staff do their best in all they do and they really care about all of us. : )
Word of Life Academy is a great school. Like all schools, there are strengths and areas that needs to be worked on. The spiritual environment and the fact that the teachers care and love the students is important to me. If that is also important to you, than WOLA is a great place to send your child.
I was a student at Word of Life Academy for 6 years and graduated from here as well. This school not only prepared me for college, but helped me mature in character and my walk with God. The teachers and staff here are great! They treat you like family which makes school more personal. I am currently attending a college and find that i was more than prepared and I am truly grateful to my parents for enrolling me.
Our son made straight A's, but the neighborhood children in public school seemed to know a lot more. We finally pulled out of WOLA and it was more than obvious that WOLA did not excel in the education. They have serious issues w/admin and seperating the church and school. We also attended the church and really got tired of seeing the crooked affairs happening w/the pastors and the lavish lifestyle they cont'd to live while teachers were being let go from the school. They really shun ppl who leave the school or church, at least that is how we felt (and others we have spoken to). This is unfortunate because there were good ppl that really put their hearts into it, just not everyone. We do not recommend this school.
What make Word of Life Academy different from any other school is standard of excellence that is expected among the staff and students. My Child has been both in Public and Private school and the biggest difference notice in is her confidence. When she was at public school she was always so concerned about her clothes, hair and what her classmates thought of her. She would always be so self conscious about everything and tell me about the constant teasing.Since Word of life she has been so happy and even comes home singing sweet songs. We are so blessed to have our daughter here.
I love Wola. I have a son there and he loves going. He is always talking about his teacher and classmates. I love the fact that my child is in a Christian environment where he is loved and learning to love others. He blesses his food before he eats and sometimes reminds ME to pray before bedtime!
I love the culture & environment at WOLA. I receive support & daily encouragement from my co-laborers. I have taught at public & private Christian schools. I have never been so happy than at WOLA. In all my 7 years as a teacher, I have grown, matured, become better in the aptitude I was given because of the God factor that is truly evident in this school. My passion for educating the future of this world is ignited more & more every year as I continue to see students of great character, academics, creativity, drive, & ambition being produced & trained at WOLA. It's not a perfect school as none is to be found. I do know that I & the rest of the teachers always do the best in what we place our hands & minds to do. Teachers are also availing themselves during lunch breaks or after school.
Word of Life Academy Staff is what makes this School the best. They care about your children as if they were there own. I would recommend this school and give it 5 stars.
My child is currently attending WOLA. Her 5th year at WOLA. She loves waking up to go to school & she comes home loving school even more, sharing all that she did...even when she gets corrected. She couldn't be at a better place with loving teachers who teach her, guide her, and encourage to be the best she can be. I love checking Powerschool to see her up-to-date grades via internet. Her teachers are organized and detailed. I know what's going on and I'm in the loop. I love the BJU & Abeka curriculum. Her computer teacher has them blogging and creating newsletters since Grade 2. Extended care staff are fun & loving too. It's a great environment where I seen my daughter grow, mature, & build character. It's easier to fix a broken child than a broken adult. I'm keeping my child at WOLA until she graduates high school.
I attended this school for the most part of my life. Since elem. to graduation. When it comes to academics. Elem. and middle school= alright HS= Horrible. Not college prep at all. Honestly a public school is more college prep than this school. My cousin who attends public school is doing 10x's more than i ever did at wola at her age. If you want to send your kid(s) to a small private school there are tons out there that'll be worth your time and MONEY. O and DON'T expect confidentiality from the staff if you go to them wanting some guidance and a shoulder to cry on be aware... soon others will know your business.
