So far (since the week before thanksgiving 2012) my kids are enjoying this school. We just moved here from mainland and parents, teachers and children have treated us well and no bullying. I am glad that the school is small. As for curriculum, I am still determing how well that's going. I see no disconnect between this one and Texas public schools. It is of course behind what I can adn did do in homeschool, or in a private school. So far I don't feel the teachers are all about scores to the point of freaking my children out about taking the test. And I do know this school has drastically improved their schools from whats on this website and a higher rating should be assigned by greatschools.com . The school was not aware of their rating on this site. They have a new principal who has been on the job 1 year and seems to really care about students. You would have to go to the Hawaii education department website for latest scores. They also have a PTSA which welcomes new members. All parents at the PTSA meeting expressed how much they love this school. Some of them have older children who used to attend years ago.

Great principal, teachers and staff. Very small school and small class size. Test scores have been going up every year for the past several years and now rank pretty high among other elementary schools. Prinicpal transferred from Aikahi, another excellent school. My daughters teacher is excellent, very well educated, and has performed miracles on my daughter. She is thriving. The only draw back to the school is the general apathy of the majority of the parents. Which says that much more about the staff.

This is a small school -- less than 200 kids. I like that about it. You get to know all the staff and the prinicipal knows each kid by name. Everyone on staff is excellent and as a school they have a lot of challenges (as do all schools in Hawaii). There's never enough money to do the best of everything for the kids, and that's all anyone wants. But these folks sure make do with what they have. There is one class per grade, except for first grade which has two. Both of my kids do well in this school.
