This school is so terrible! I don't have the time to list all the things wrong with this school. The school grounds are very nice but besides that you will be disgusted by the behavior of the staff. If you have a problem you will feel helpless because to nothing ever changes. Make the drive to go to a private school or get a transfer to another school. It will be worth it.

this school is the worst school i have ever encountered. my son has lost two years of education due to my giving this school a break. they have done nothin but make my son not like school. he loved school before he attended this school. this year alone they have had several principles. the teachers are totally unqualified to handle any age student, they do not communicate well with parents, and they have not placed my son in correct cirriculum for his test scores.dont be fooled because this school looks newer than others in this city. stay away from this school it will do irreprable harm to your child. i have more than a handful of friends that have pulles their kids from this school....(excuse my spelling n grammer, i tried not to type like i text lol)

The Principal and Grade Level Chairs have focused on curriculum continuity in all grades this year and have succeeded. Kamali'i Elementary is also focused on technology. The school has quality networked computers and uses the most recent Apple software to teach our children the tools they need to succeed. The teachers have done an outstanding job teaching students in the 2009-2010 school year with the limited time and resources available to them.

kamalii was great when it was new, and they retaied their greatteachers. Now, it is not the same New principal who seems to turn a blind eye when it comes to teacher/parent/student communication= AND discipline for trouble makers at school. Both of our children rate tops on STAR testing, are well-advanced for their years, and do well academically. But some of the teachers, AND office workers, are so off the chart they really should not even be working with the public, let alone with children.

You need to be very involved with this school and monitor your child very carefull. You need to know the standards and curriculm. There are many parts of the curriculm being left out in order to teach students to the test.

I had the pleasure of being a parent volunteer at this school for two years and will never forget the experience. Reading/writing is strong here, math could be better and everything else in between is great! Extracurricular activities that occur after school is just fantastic! The teachers and staff are all relatively young and the principle is very involved with the classes and teachers. That is a good sign. I have seen kids and even parents hang around way after schools over to chit chat with teachers...I think parents feel very comfortable with the teachers and with the school. I think that is a very important issue knowing that for the most part of your child's day is in school and at the hands of the teacher. My own child was the happiest when she attended this school and did very well in academics.

This school is a great school. A school to be proud about having your child attend. The Principal takes such pride in the school. I can't say more positive things about this school and sound like I'm overdoing it. But it's a wonderful public school. Lot of homework, but who cares. It's given for a reason. Other Maui Principals and DOE should use this school as a tool guide.
