Small hard working community that pulls together and really has helped to bring up the children's test scores and school involvement.

Small school with a great community of parents and grandparents. They do an amazing job pitching in considering it's a working class community with both parents usually at work. We are underfunded but we have managed to pay for music classes out of the PTSA budget as well as art and PE. We could use more extra curricular activities though such as chorus, other music options as well as drama.

I was against public school till my kids went here! awesome non-judgmental principal, caring teachers..only problem is the Hawaii Gov system they have to teach under! and now with furlough days..I appreciate the teachers care enough to step up. This school would be exceptional if it did not have to work under the laws of Hawaii DOE. Love the diversity of teachers. The PTSA needs help, not enough parents involved. and Kilauea is a great town for kids. what a Halloween party!..
