Very unfriendly office staff, and poor communication from teachers and office staff. In the process of improving curriculum due to low scores, but poor student support.

I was really hesitant about the Hawaii education before moving here. But once I sat down with Waiau staff and they explained that they have a harder curriculum them stateside schools. My son even had to get a tutor and she has helped a lot. I recently found out that the schools on this side are better then the schools in town. The tutor said 3rd graders in town are not even doing what my 3rd grader is doing. So I love it!!!! and when we went to mainland for the end of 2nd they said he was more advance then there school so This is an awesome SCHOOL!!!

GREAT SCHOOL!!! High education as a kinder. My kids are leaning a lot from this school, not only study but music, art, life experiense etc... I am so happy about Waiau. Even though Waiau was not great rating but I bet this school improved their education level. I would rate 10 of 8-9.

Waiau has a good grasp of what kids need in the real world. Teachers push my kids to do better then even they think they can. They have music, PE, violin, robotics, a track team and many other learning opportunities. The staff is warm and helpful and respond quickly to concerns.

No parent involvement. No funding for higher education. Unfriendly staff. Lack of communication from teachers. GE as fast as you can to another school.
