Our question is about 1 specific school - Cleveland High School Cleveland, TN We want to help our 15 year old daughter with her Algebra 1 . She's had a rough physical health go of it Her father almost died too19296
I checked out your profile, I am sorry you and your loved ones are suffering through medical problems. Like I said previously you may want to re post this question in the Local Q&A section since it is about a specific school.
Have you tried hiring a tutor for your daughter? What aspect of her math is she struggling with? Homework, testing, studying, etc,. I struggled a great deal in high school with mathematics, I struggled with testing and anxiety. When I reached college the first thing I did was sign up for an anxiety (related to math) class. Since we don't want your daughter to wait that long to get help, I'll try to pass on some of the key points of that course.
Sit close to the board: Being able to see is key Take good notes: This is imperative to studying at home Practice: Practice, practice, practice the more you do it the better you know it. Do math homework right away: You retain the information better. Don't be afraid to ask questions: This could be embarrassing for someone in high school, so if she really just can't raise her hand have her wait after class. Have a good place to study: Quiet, good light, comfortable.
Hopefully, some of these strategies will help her with her math problems, but since school is heading towards summer I would look into getting a tutor. It may be to late for her to turn her grade around on her own.19295
