A 41-year-old tradition at UCLA is catching on at such far-flung places as Emory University and NorthWestern University--Dinner With 12 Strangers.
An alumni-hosted dinner, students dine with alumni and other students they might not otherwise meet.
I love this idea for a large university like UCLA. While my son attends a school with roughly 2000 students, and he has met virtually the entire residential freshman class, he was put off by UCLA's size and anonymity. A program like this would go a long way toward making connections.
As a student or an alum (or both), would such a program interest you?
