Should high schoolers get summer jobs?

No, they shouldn't. They are, for the most part, incapable of thinking ahead and doing any sort of financial planning, so any money they make is IMMEDIATELY spent on CDs or movies and the like. Give the jobs to hard-working adults instead.

Yes. Early work experience helps prepare teens for being independent after College and sets up their resume when they need to enter the work force full time.

Absolutely! Teenage and high school years are meant to serve as a transition period. Getting a job and making their own money is an important step in learning the responsibilities of adulthood.
