The teacher should instead of "friending " the students create a special "group" that is inclusive to students and the parents which can help in posting special events, etc. you don't "friend" your students.

No. The relationship should be sacred, respected and purposeful. Internet Socialization has crossed many boundaries and its pathetic how friends and socialization has turned into a money making business....

Absolutely not! Students & Teachers should only have contact in person pertaining to school activities/classroom/learning. In this day & age unfortunately any contact outside of the classroom between teacher & student can be very dangerous for both.

Many great teachers are accused by students for crimes they might not have committed. In my days, I would say "yes". Today, I have to say "no".
