RELOCATION TO FLORIDA

Hi we are moving from PA to the Orlando area and need some advice on schools and areas to live.

We would like advice on the best (or one of the best) High Schools in the Orlando area.

Some friends have said that the Dr Phillips and Windermere areas are probably the best but we do not have any idea.

we would also like to be near good shopping and eating areas not tourist spots though.

We will be renting a house for 12 months and then buying so we can look about a bit.

Any advice would be appriciated.

If you can afford Windermere that would be great. Stay completely away from the greater Orlando area. Public schools in Florida are not usually good. I lived there my whole life and only recently moved to an area in Texas that has Independent School Districts.....its a whole other world. Good luck. Say hello to the mosquitos, gators, and hurricanes. Sounds miserable but I kinda miss them.

Windmere is a really great area if you can afford it from what I heard. I live in Brevard County and we have some great schools here. Good luck on the move!

Hi, we also moved away from Orlando to Texas. I am also in an ISD, but my experience was the opposite of the other Texas transplant. I found our school in Orlando to be light years ahead of the one we are in now. We lived in Avalon Park, and I loved it and miss it everyday. The elementary and middle schools are located inside the neighborhood, and the High School is very close, but right outside the actual neighborhood. They have a website for the community www.avalonpark.com. It is more affordable than Windermere or Dr. Philips. I also had several friends that lived in Oviedo who were very pleased with the schools there.
