Yes at home responsibly w/supervision. Once they are older you can discuss game themes like Mythology, WW2, Civilizations, Italian Renaissance, etc. This morning we watched 2 hrs on the Rise & Fall of Sparta. The game peeked his interest.

Yes, as can any form of media. Beyond the third grade the benefit will not be obvious (as it would be in a basic math game). Carefully budget your child's game time. Banning games WILL make them a social outcast, too much will create a sloth.

There are so many educational games out there and interactive learning is a great way to keep kids interested in the subject being taught. I am for this idea as long as it's being used responsibly.

They probably could be but that doesn't mean they should. If parents want to teach their children using video games on their own time- fine with me- but don't waste valuable class time on this!
