San Marino High or Pasadena High School?

I have an option of either of the two high schools. I know San Marino (SM) is thriving academically, but it is not very diverse and I'm afraid my kids won't "fit in" (we're Hispanic). Pasadena High School (PHS), fits the diverse category, but is inferior to SM academically. I want my kids to be challenged academically, but I don't want to stress them out where they feel they can't compete. I also don't want them to feel like outsiders because there are so few Hispanics and African Americans. SM also has less students than PHS, and that is definitely a plus. I would love to hear from SM and PHS parents and students. Thanks for your input.

Hi proudmom8,

You might want to tour the schools and see them in action. You may like Pasadena, and you might have your concerns about San Marino alleviated.

San Marino is multi-ethnic, and while there are fewer Hispanic kids, there are some. You may find that the high academics help your kids fit in even more than the demographics issue.

Also, you might want to post this in the Los Angeles section so you get responses from people in your area. It's located here: http://www.greatschools.org/california/los-angeles/community.gs?content=1967
