My daughter will be going to third grade th school that is in her district I don't want her to attend.how do I go about registering her that school which is not far away from our home but its not our zone school due to the zipcode?secondly is it better for me to start a new job than transfer her from the ny school to florida.or register her first and stay home a week or two to see how she feels about the new transition from ny to florida and than work after the two weeks.this is my first move of the states and I need tips moms.thanks to those who reply
Most school districts have some sort of 'open enrollment' which allows you to apply to schools outside of the ones you are zoned for. Most of those schools, however, do have application deadlines and there are often wait lists. But go ahead and call to inquire about the school you are interested in and find out if that's a possibility for this year. If not make sure you follow the deadlines for next year.
If you can move her down, give her a little to adjust and then start working, that's always ideal. But if you have to start working immediately then do what you have to do and keep an open line of communication.
