Worried Mother

I have a 10th grader in the Clayton Co School system in GA. It came to my attention that he has been passed along for at least 2 years- and it is clear to me that there are many things (educationally) that he has missed out on. I have pulled him from outside activities and am now getting support from my mom on a weekly basis to help him get organized. He is at risk of getting one of those Certificates of Attendance in two years and I just can't let that happen. Any advise to help him get caught up

Hi shwilson81 and welcome to the GreatSchools Parent Community.

Definitely contact the school immediately and ask to speak to his counselor. He needs support from the school, and now that you're aware you need to make sure they're doing their job. Ask for a conference with his teachers. Ask for a meeting with the person that runs the special education program. Pull out his report cards, and ask to see his files.

Keep at it. You can make a difference.
