Castleford School has a good learning environment and teachers work as a team. Teachers are student-centered and put in a lot of work to help all students succeed. There is a lot of extra work in small schools and teachers step up to the plate to help. The administration is student- centered and promotes technology as a means to help diversify learning. Parent input is encouraged and there is a lot of community-school interaction. The community is very supportive of the school and the Men's Club is great as well as the PTYO in supporting the school. Out of district students/families value the small school atmosphere and are often very involved in the school. Students are usually polite and hard working. Great atmosphere!
Administration cares nothing of quality of education. Very high rate of out of district kids and the vast majority are discipline problems from other schools. Teachers completely frustrated by lack of support, and the school board has done nothing to combat serious problems such as falsifying state records to meet ayp goals, missing and misused funds, and state investigations into grade tampering by the administration.
Administration is known for grade tampering and leaving kids off role to meet AYP goals. The school board knows but doesn't care. Large percentage of students are from out of district because school is known for a dumping ground for discipline problems from other schools
My children attend or have graduated from Castleford Schools. I find this school to be on the cutting edge with technology, offering an 8 period rollover concept (where students are able to take more classes), have an all day kindergarten, their grading system is electronic, and their elementary music program is excellent. The superintendent and principal are personable, caring, and up-to-date with keeping the school a positive learning environment. The teachers my children have had work hard to give them the best education and keep them on state and national standards, while still having fun learning experiences. My senior has been given many oportunities about finding college material, such as financial aid and scholarships, and school choices from the present school counselor. Castleford schools have many out-of-district children, which speaks for itself showing the kind of school parents want their children to attend.
